@Synchro @thunder58 would one of you put this thread where it belongs. I botched up posting it and wound up in the wrong forum. This surprises me a bit. I wonder why tue covers aren’t aging and the binding and heel cap are. View attachment 203701 View attachment 203702 View attachment 203703 View attachment 203704

I hadn’t thought of that! This one is easy to explain -
The body (including heel cap, binding, logo etc) is clear-coated, which has yellowed to some extent. The other parts were added to the guitar after paint.
I don’t know.Is the Jade finished in lacquer?
The reason I asked is because my Phoenix binding and headstock are "aged." The factory sprayed it with a tinted lacquer.I don’t know.
I just wish the covers would have aged as well! I couldn’t appreciate aging until I got this Strat. Blizzard Pearl 60th anni mim. But the pickguard has aged magnificently!
I’ve seen that done before tea and coffee mixture. On the Strat I like the contrast. On the Penguin I might give it a go. I have some tea bags. I love tea so I’m not sure I want to waste it on plastic!Beautiful! Scuff’m up and marinate them in some tea(Oolong if you want to be specific) let dry, and repeat the process minus the scuffing up till you’ve reached the desired hue.
I found my post with the specs sent to me by Fender. Not sure how accurate they are close but read to top and back body dimensions and tell me they have their crap together. Anywho this states Gloss Urethane and it does have that feeling. But in sounds great feels good but a bit on the heavy side and looks a million times better in person. Is the Jade finished in lacquer?
View attachment 102025 Yes, when I bought mine I emailed and asked about the number built and the reply was,
"Hello John,
It looks like we're capping that model at 75 units. I show that its production run was from 11/2015 to 06/2016, so it's definitely a limited model!"
and the specs they sent to me and it does have a pinned bridge,

I also asked about reading the sn# and the reply was,
"Hello John,
Really, after the prefix (JT15) it's all sequential, there's not a whole lot to read with the modern serials."
and mine,
Hi John! Where are you in South Dakota? My Mom’s side of the family homesteaded there in Belle Fouche in 1870.I found my post with the specs sent to me by Fender. That's wild! I never really noticed this on my Phoenix until I checked just now. The binding has clearly faded, but I'm only now really seeing that the edges of the headstock sparkle are aging in a very cool way.The reason I asked is because my Phoenix binding and headstock are "aged." The factory sprayed it with a tinted lacquer.
Almost as far east as you can go! I live outside Garretson. I do have a shop in Rapid City I work at also in my travels. I hope to head that way again in a few weeks I love it over there but the prices are so high compared to the pay. Nut jobs moving in from the coasts are messing it up. I’ve run into some really winners over there who live there now and brought all their problems with them.Hi John! Where are you in South Dakota? Truss rod cover? I’m good. I just thought it was odd that it didn’t age like the rest of the guitar but after the explanations provided it makes sense. Thanks!I think I have an extra TRC if you'd like it for experimentatuon / backup (I bought it used as the cheapest way to get replacement TRC screws).
