Who likes to play the blues on their Gretsch? I think they are a perfect blues guitar but I don't see many people using them for that, why not?

I find a decent Blues sound easy to come by with any Gretsch I own. Our band doesn’t do a lot of Blues, but that sound is used occasionally, and the guitar holds up its end.

Blues with a Gretsch and a Vox amp sound just right to me. Major pent, bends, sustain, reverb. ~Love it.

If you like the P-90 for blues Gretsch makes a few different models with those pickups today.
Mine is a 2019 G2622T-P90. It's basically a 335 clone with P-90s that will play everything any Gibson or other brand will play.

As always, you can play any type of music on any kind of guitar.
It's the player, not the instrument.

I've always liked the fuller sound of the neck pickup when soloing. Sometimes the sound can be a little heavy but then I bring bring out the Setzer Black Phoenix and that brings out a great full town with plenty of depth and breathing room.....really awesome and not sure why it always seems like I wait for a perceived tone issue with another guitar before bringing it out.

Surprisingly versatile and never disappointing is my '08 5126. With some gain, and this really makes no sense, it actually gets really close to Stevie Ray's tone from the "In The Beginning" live album. It actually does the more treble/sparkly T-Bone Walker sound really well off the middle position or just the bridge.

I love playing a SD Dyna/or T-Armond equipped Jet played neck only and the tone is Blues heaven........think of a neck-pickup engaged Tele with plenty of Bluesy drip but added hint of airy sparkle and the tone is awesome.

Honestly, I don't. Jazzy stuff yes, but for blues I reach for my teles. Altho I do dig laying' down some T-Bone Walker with the Gretsch, but that's the crossroads where blues and jazz meet...

I use my Panther for Blues all the time. It works as well as any ES Series guitar in the genre. Actually, as well as any guitar….IMHO

I play blues on my Gretsch. A touch of drive in the Filtertron's and ... yep...

Great as usual Nick. That "If Trouble Was Money" is one of my favorite Albert Collins tunes.

Thank you. We don’t really play it like him. But we stick to our style of playing. I love Albert wish I could get that sweet ice picky sound he gets

This guy does a pretty good job of it. He's been using this as his go-to as long as I've known him, ~15yrs.
