First time Gretsch owner here with a 5445T.

I understand that the below is a good starting point....however I have a question. When it Says "all screws down for start," how far down does that really mean? On mine, I can screw them down below the surrounding metal....I don't have any experience with HS Filtertrons or any of the TV Jones pickups, but based on the diagrams, the pole pieces seem to be standing above the level of the pickup.

Just trying to figure out my starting point...I know I will fine tune by ear.

From TV Jones, polepiece adjustments for Classic Filtertrons:
    • Neck Pickup: first all screws all the way down
    • Low E, all the way down.
    • A up, half a turn
    • D: up about a full turn
    • G: a little less than half a turn
    • B: all the way down
    • High E: Up half a turn
    • Bridge pickup.
    • All screws down for start.
    • E: down
    • A: up 3/4 turn
    • D: up a little more than one turn
    • G: up less than half a turn
    • B: down all the way
    • E: down all the way

    Thanks in advance!

Welcome to Gretschville! Down to the plastic covering the flatwork, so below the metal cover.

Cool, thank you, so once I make the TV Jones recommended turns to the polepieces, they will still be pretty much below the metal cover?
