Just out of curiosity can anyone explain what the letter codes are after the model # of a Bigsby?
Just received my new G6120-DCH-LTD and it came with a B6CBVF.
    C - Chrome
    B - ?
    V - Vintage ?
    F - Flat arm.

It does not have a V-cut so I am guessing on the Vintage designation, I have no idea on the B. The body does not have the black paint on it.
    Thanks for the help.

Yes - those Bigsby designation are mysterious to me too... Oh, I understand that a B6xxxxxxx - LH is a Lefty model, though... A great guess, indeed !:D

    But maybe : C = "Chrome", G = "Gold" or "Gretsch V-cutout"... o_O

    A+!

Not sure that "Chrome" would be referenced, as the Bigsby units are aluminum. But then again I have no idea what all those letters mean, so who knows. I would bet the V = V-style "Gretsch" model.

You'll find the gold version on other Gretsches and the Bigsby nomenclature stays the same. I've seen Vintage Flat in relation to the arm so that sounds plausible. Which would leave CB? No idea...

I think VF refers to the handle, vintage flat arm.

Maybe A was the prototype and B was the final (and currently still produced) version??
If we weren't all so lazy maybe one of us, myself included, could email Bigsby customer support and ask. I was almost too lazy to type that, btw :)

I would guess B is for Bigsby and not F Fender or G Gretsch.

    Someone call them!

I don’t see those designation codes on Bigsby’s website. Where did you see them?

They’re in the model’s spec sheet on the official Gretsch site.

It would be logical to think that way, but I don't think logic is at work here. I believe it does indeed stand for chrome. Google B6C and you will see the word "chrome" bandied about heavily by retailers from Angela to Wal-Mart. So, I would assume that verbiage comes directly from Bigsby. Maybe they didn't think "plain aluminum" sound sexy enough. If you look at the parts list on their website, they also refer to a lot of parts as "stainless" that are also aluminum.

Oddly enough Gretsch use C on gold Bigsby versions as well.

Maybe C just denotes the finish of the arm(not being Alu) which would be weird but heh...
