I'm partial to jets myself. They seem to vary a lot in weight so I suggest asking about that if it is important to you.

The new Jet has a stated Sweetwater weight of 7lbs 6oz so if that is accurate, we should be good!

I am excited too but I am looking forward to having both instruments in hand and stage ready!! The gigs have been ramping up. Changing systems for stage is always a bit nerve racking, but I got loads of comments on the guitar sound when I played that new Gretsch live. The "cut" on tap with the FTs was addictive to be sure!!

Thread with no photos suck so here are the stock Sweetwater photos of the two guitars of which I speak:

Since you posted those two (beautiful) pictures, I'm wondering how a "smoke" Duo Jet would look. I believe I'd like it a lot. The only thing that always leave me cold about Duo Jets is the shiny paint job, even on nitro finish...

Yes, a "Smoke" Duo would be killer! I bet the RB pups would "smoke" in a Duo! As far as shinny goes, I hear you. I look forward when they don't look quite so new. However, do not underestimate the power that bounced stage lights have on an audience. They often listen with their eyes! :)

That Smoke is really tasty. That Jet ain't too shabby either...

A Smoke Jet would be seriously cool - kinda like a toned down Roundup without all the over-the-top appointments, and Filters instead of Dynas.

All of a sudden I realize the reason why people like relic'd guitars...:)
I completely agree, it would look fabulous.

My vote was for the Jet but you beat me to it. Enjoy the NGD!

The concept of always having a near -identical guitar as a backup puts my mind at ease.
So my choice would be clear.

As long as I can afford it, I will have some very different guitars in my herd to toy around with or simply getting the job done when recording.
On gigs I prefer to stay with one model and it`s twin as a backup.

Nevertheless: Congrats on your new guitar.

I believe I have chosen wisely! The Duo is here and it is fantastic! The neck is the fastest I have played since before pointy heads and spandex were only for Halloween! I would prefer some locking tuners but I'll see how these work out. I have a hunch that I would prefer Ray Butts over the Classics but they are still awesome. Fit and finish is insanely perfect. I'll do an NGD thread with pics later this weekend but I wanted close this conversation with a big thanks to all!

Can’t wait for the pics… about RB: I absolutely love them on my 6120, but I had mixed up reviews on Jets. In fact, I bought mine from a guy who didn’t bond with them in a Jet… ;) I’d like to try them though.
    Have fun!
