they look less ugly than a B7, B70, or B700 to me, imo.. i just don't like the painted flat plate.

i like to chrome-plate my bigsbys. it's a huge pain in the ass disassembling them, then making sure they actually fit back together, but i like it. maybe doing so will make the B12 i have (for the ES-335 i probably won't own for a long time) look better.

    too bad they don't make a v-cut B7 similar to the B3 or B6C.

i wonder how hard it would be to cleanly/professionally rout out the middle painted part of a B7. or more likely, have it done. you guys got me looking at the lines & curves of the B7 as compared to the B12 & they do complement the body of an ES-335 or any gretsch a lot nicer. :/

i got my B12 for $75 new though so i really don't mind if i have to sell it & buy another one when the time comes. but i'm picky about aesthetic stuff like that. :/

Nick, I've owned 2 Gretsch Spectrasonics..the current one is built slightly better than the other in terms of neck feel and finish(terada, last one was fuji-gen).. the main differences between guitars is that the tvjones model has a maple top and ebony fretboard. He also uses classics.. the Gretsch model has a spruce top, african padauk fretboard on mahogany neck and has powertrons stock.

tonal difference, tvjones model is very bright and poppy, more duojet meets telecaster. This could be changed to a degree with hotter pickups. I've used classics and magnatones as well as P90s in the Gretsch and I prefer a punchier rounder pickup for a better balance between bridge and neck.

The gretsch model is more like a duojet on steroids meets rickenbacker, and the middle position is beyond amazing. the guitar plays very fast and is my favorite for more modern blues and hard rock.

here it is when it had a powertron neck with the supertron, into your same nocturne amp (except 2 vintage 30s)

Lovely things, eh? (yes, I like B12s too) And as an aside...

Don't know how close I am on this one, but I always thought Tom's inspiration for that unique pickguard was right under our noses.

...of course it also could have been a lopsided BATMAN!

    That's very possibly it Ando!
Ian, I see where you're coming from, and I'd love to fit a V cut, but there would be no break angle at all. It's the extra roller that I don't like, B12, B7, bleurgh, although the B5 looks ok to me as it's compact.
    But........

.....this is something i nearly made permanent, but didn't want to drill more holes so it was held by the strap button.

ha yes that was what I used sort of.. I prefer "Lil' Lime Squeezer" a slightly larger flake. although its been candied over with badass blue and is not on the guitar anymore since I TK Smith'd it all up.

    Nope
Has anyone tried a Cort Sunset? I'm thinking they look similar but do they play and sound similar to a Spectrasonic? If I knew where to get my hands on one I'd like to try one out. Cort dealers seem hard to come by in Ontario, a few carry acoustics but not electrics.

no that guitar sounds absolutely nothing like a spectrasonic..but its a groovy sound. I'll try to find the video I shot of Paul Pigat playing it with Johnny of BSO on bass
