Any Strat experts out there? I need some buying advice. Don't delay, time running out.

After looking at all these blue Stratocasters, I figured some of you might be interested to see mine. This is a 1980 Fender "STRAT" in Lake Placid Blue. I got it around 2002 and it had already started to look greenish. It's an awesome player and the most Stratocaster-ish sounding of the ones I have. There is 22K gold plating on the parts (!), made to be Fender's competition for the Gibson Les Paul Custom. The tuning pegs are not gold plated, which (I have read) indicates this is one of the first ones produced. Schaller apparently didn't have the gold ones ready by the time Fender wanted to start shipping.

Buy a G&L (leo fenders company). Oustanding build and pick ups and a fulcrum trem bar if you use one. Very stable and accurate.
The pickups are beautiful and as I said the build quality is excellent. Much better than mex fenders and the same prices.

Well according to the source all the “Blue Agave” eyeballs here are full of it. They say it’s “Lake Placid Blue.” I sent a serial check email request to Fender with the serial number of the used blueish strat that started all of this and they sent me back the color and full specs for the model.

The LPB on that used MIM strat mighta faded over time or possibly it was a slightly different color back then. I guess I could just get any blue strat I want, to reproduce the experience. No since killing myself getting a discontinued “blue agave” when a “tidepool blue” is plenty close.

I have this 2013 MIM and hand on heart can say that it's amongst the best guitars I've ever played. Great tone, fast neck, comfortable profile. The Mexican Standards are about 10 years behind where the American Fenders are at, and the quality keeps improving on these things all the time. Nowadays, the Standards are called "Players" (lol).

That’s a real beauty ya got there. Love the candy red, white guard and blonde neck color palette.
I’ve got a 2014 Olympic White MIM Strat showing up today. I hope that the year after yours was another good production year south of the border. Not to mention my hopes that it arrives undamaged after that cross country trip in a winter storm. Fingers crossed!

Pretty sure that’s Lake Placid Blue on the right. What’s the color on the left? Crazy cool sticker job with the blonde on that one by the way.

FedEx driver doing his best “2001: A Space Odyssey” impression.

I just happened to hear the van drive up. No doorbell ring and this was supposed to be signed for. It’s a pretty blustery day today with the wind blowing from the left, so it wasn’t too far off from going off to the right into the bushes. Oh well, box doesn’t look like it got the krap beat out of it and it’s here a day early, so...

output.jpg the one on the right is a 2016 skyburst metallic blue stratocaster. Its a really cool burst type color. My wife calls it the "Blue Jeans One" (I have already willed it to my 2nd cousin when I pass)
the dark blue one is a 2020 (Mexico) Deluxe. It has the large 70s headstock which I am a sucker for.
The picture isnt a sticker btw, its the reflection off the TV. I was watching THE BIG BANG THEORY and didnt notice it was there.

Yes, always blown away by the tone, fit and finish of that guitar, and I don't even like Strats that much. You'll have a lot of fun with yours, I'm sure.

Excellent! I’ve been curious about what that blue burst color looked like in reality, since I found it on the fender custom make your own thingy website.

Gretsch did it last year too, but it has multicolored sparkles. An Astra Blue Burst FSR for GC and MF.

I was just kidding about the Crazy cool Sticker, but I was thinking it was your wife or girlfriend sitting across the way. I was like...SCORE!
Never been a BBT watcher, so I didn’t catch the reference. Saw that show once and I was like this is Happy Days, but with nerds. I can’t believe they are still recycling that tired concept. I guess it’s like boy bands. There’s always another generation coming up that hasn’t been subjected to it, so it keeps rolling around.

I’ll be happy with it if it’s just undamaged and in one piece. I’ve had a lot of bad luck with guitar shipments in the past couple of months.
