Hey Nick you run both pedals. AB into EP or EP into AB?
Throughout the years I've had my Atomic Brain, no. Abby always on is too much. It's perfect for when the band gets louder and you can't hear yourself, though.
However, I am finding that on my new (old) Mystery Brain that Abby on with the decibel cut enabled suits it well. It sounds about halfway between Nomal and Abby (with no decibel cut). So, yes I do like Abby always almost on.

I got first Gen 301.. are you talking about the toggle behind the pre amp knob?
You’re correct with the El Pescadoro having the Jr Barnyard preamp. It might seem odd to some, but I haven’t really played around with blending or even the switching the pedal order between them. I originally found my preferred sweet spot for both and simply switch with the mood or song. Currently my Jr B is in front of my Atomic simply by default. I’ve got the latest Atomic Brain with switches on order also. I’ll play around with blending them after checking out the switches. Probably can dial in some cool tones.
I’ve never noticed the DB cut because I’ve only played newer Mystery Brains. Maybe Tavo removed it from the circuit altogether. The newer ones have a Treble Cut switch internally, but that only effects the echo.

If I have the JR Barnyard in line with it either before or in the loop Abby is not always on and when it isn’t in line or in the loop it is 50/50 wether it is on or not.

Bought mine used from a member here.. first run. Didn’t come with Manual so I’m kinda in re discovery…so much in this box!! If your one that likes to fiddle with your volume knob and pup position for mix presence.. try setting amp tone with Abby on, it’s that good..

The ep is before the mystery brain because sometimes I like to hit the echo with the grittier preamp. But when I use the mb preamp both are on. And sometimes I have the fluid drive on as well, it’s in the loop on the mb

Do you run any pedals @ 18v?
I picked this quote from a years old thread because it succinctly describes how to use Abby (or Normal) all the time.
the dB cut switch that was external as a toggle, is now on the inside as a slider. Down position is stock, up is the dB pad that cuts some upper presence gain. The earlier version that had the toggle
outside kept getting knackered and since most kind of set and forget,it was best inside next to the trim pot for the vibrato intensity. I leave the dB presence cut on, as its needed if you have other pedals in front of it that add upper frequency boost or in my case big bobbin single coils. It attenuates some of the ice pickies from Dynas and P90s.

These are good settings to rock out.
This was how I set it with my fender deluxe.
With my new custom built deluxe reverb I keep the amp volume at 3 and the brain around noon. It’s a MUCH louder amp.
Thanks. I received the tracking already. I’m looking forward to seeing that copper Atomic Brain in person and finally checking all the other brains it offers.

So ... I went thru the classic rock, SRV, country, and Stray Cats we play with ABBY on and bass control all the way off, using a Les Paul, Strat, and Gretsch. And does sound excellent. One of the few pedals that really is 'touch responsive' ime.
But (and there's always a butt) ... I now don't have a solo boost switch. The ABBY switch worked great with both modes of my SC-2 as well as the brain (of course) to goose whatever level of grind I might be using. With my busted up hands I'm not fast enough now with my volume knob. Gotta footswitch it.
So I'm back to using it as a solo boost. It did sound excellent always on, though.

Check this….stack a Dyno for that bump. I’ve had this Dyno since Tavos introduction of it.. I just added it tonight to see what voodoo is created… and it’s pretty impressive…his cheapest peddle.
It will bump the Abby to choice…
