My name is Mike and grew up in Stockton, CA - Home to Chris Isaak and the Silvertones. Currently I live in Portland OR area and jam at home and with a few fellas down the street.

Although I've been playing drums for 30+ years, I finally got around to take the guitar a little more 'serious'?

My brothers and I grew up with the Stray Cats, Rockabilly, Blues and Swing, so this Gretsch guitar that I picked up was an easy choice for me. Initially I was looking for an older Danelectro for the twangy tone (I love Southern Culture On The Skids so Rick got me interested), those older U1 and U2 are starting at $600+ and going up in price day after day. Covid has limited the import of the newer models.

I picked up a G2215 to play at home and hopefully I can mod it a bit to be my Dirt Track Geetar!

Thanks and hope to post every now and then.

P.S. I looking for some dice volume and tone knobs Setzer style. ;)

    Hiya, Welcome.
Kinda in the same boat, double bass player but picked up guitar recently with covid.

If you type "guitar dice knobs" in google, they're should be plenty options to choose from.
There seem to be a lot of options on here http://diceknobs.com/

Double bass! I never learned.. I play linear style so I can throw plenty tom beats to make it sound like that! And yes, I'm a better drummer than a guitar play by far. I pick things up from my older Brother as we speak and video through Zoom.

About the dice - going for the Brian Setzer look a bit. He was the main reason we got 'started' in music.

One thing about guitars, or any 'hobby', you will always look for things and accessories to buy and that can add up!

    I'll check that site out!

For the BroadTron mod, I just cut the threads enough just to screw down -effectively just leaving 3-3 functional screws in the magnets. Later, I hope to get a better picked for this guitar - and possibly a T-Armond to make the tone a bit nicer; but I really have to find out what would fit in here. The turtle is my "penguin" and a reminder that playing slow is a much needed when learning anything....plus the ladies call me "Slow Hands" as in the Pointer Sister's song! :) upload_2021-2-1_8-17-34.png

My collection includes a Classic Vibe Telecaster and a Mexican Fender Strat where I place a single P90 PU. For a drummer I probably have more guitars that I need! HA - I also have a FrankenTele and Schecter Tempest that is more of a Les Paul Style guitar.

Hope to pick your guys brains in the new future. But yes, the Streamliner PU would be next....I got a company bonus so theirs that!

    take care.

    Welcome to Gretsch-Talk, Mike!

Many years ago, I wanted to play drums, but a music director told my parents it was clarinet or nothing. I played for a couple of years, but then gave it up. in 1999 I started playing an acoustic guitar, and that eventually took me to electrics. In 2007, I also decided to go back to my childhood dream, and started playing the drums.

Playing music is just plain fun . . . well, except if I'm having to do it on a clarinet.

Welcome to the madness, Mike! The fridge is right over there in the corner. You've reminded me that I should oughta go back to playing drums, no one complains if you hit the wrong cymbal.

I bought a 2655t to play around with and mod. I need to get a ding or two in it so I don't feel bad about messing up making a brand new guitar my style.
