Leader of the Gang was the one that charted #26! Martian Boogie only got as high as #45. I remember them because we would see them live and had their records. Radio wasn't very kind to them.

How about Canada's answer to Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, etc... Lighthouse with "One Fine Morning".

I first heard this song from the movie "Reservoir Dogs" and loved it! I finally downloaded it for a buck on to my ipod over 10 years ago when we could get singles again!!!

A ton of songs come to mind when I saw the thread but "Baby Come Back" was this first I thought of ......didn't even remember the name of the group. Oh, "Mississippi Queen" by Mountain is a one-hit wonder standard from the first half of the decade.

Their bass player is in my top 10 of all time. This made it to top 20 of UK charts in 1978. I don't think their other songs did. But many of them should have IMO.

it is a great song. But weird, that fuzz and the slightly too loud backing singer. Great drum part. Bizarre lyrics.

it shouldn’t work. But it does.

Always loved this one (Stealers Wheel).....and Reservoir Dogs just wouldn't be the same without it :)

I do not like those lyrics. Great riff. Fantastic chord solo. Those drums. But the lyrics make me want a shower.

I feel kinda bad for him that he is a one hit wonder but released an album called “The Definitive Anthology “. A bit of unintended irony I suppose. Great tune though.

Some good ones here! But glad the titles are visible before clicking - there are some I care not to play!

That brings back memories. The band I played in Germany had mostly British member. We played couple of gigs in Cumbria around the wedding of the guitarists brother.

Our guitarists wanted to make a joke on the singer and switch another song to this one just as the vocals of another song were to start. And the guitarists would sing it. I was on a business trip in the US and flew straight to Heathrow to join the rest of the band. I found about the plan via email with words and chords to the song. Pre-internet so I could not listen to it. And of course we could not practise it before the gig.

It went to the plan and I managed to play through it without mistakes. The one and only time I've played it. The singers face was hilarious when the song changed just as he opened his mouth for the first line of the song he thought we were doing. :D

True...didn't "Maggie" precede them, tho, from the first LP?

Wild Cherry a one hit wonder?

Nope. They have five charted hits. They may not have all been top 10 but they still charted.

Pet peeve of mine. Just because you don't remember or know about other hits a band might have had just makes you uninformed.

Google is there for a reason folks.

The Knack also charted 5 times. Even Starland Vocal Band hit the charts 4 times. Just saying.

Believe this was late 60’s. Ted Nugent went on to do his own thing after the Dukes, I don’t recall them charting any other songs.
