Smart, they beat Thomann on this one. I think the price is reasonable considering the TV Jones and the hard case, especially if you're not very handy or confident in tinkering with your precious guitar.

Looks like the Tony Sims model in orange instead of Fairlane Blue!

$200 bucks to install some $250 TV jones and a $80-$100 case? No thanks.

    My point reinforced. Lol

Isn't this exactly the same as the Thomann version?

Yes, but based on the new version with the smaller headstock.

I checked the price of the standard G5420 2016 model ... Music Store in Cologne sells it for 760€ without case, so yes, the limited run is overpriced.

PS: But a set of TV Jones Classics costs around 300€ in Germany and the case around 130€.

As said before, you won't get a used 6120 in germany under 2k. This one is similar to my FSR. It's not THAT cheap, but you can get a ready to go 5420 with the right pkups a tad cheaper than buying parts separately.

No, not cheaper, but without the hassle to change pickups yourself.

    G5420 new gen, Music Store = 760€
    TV Jones Classic set, Thomann, 145 + 155 = 300€
    Hard case, Amazon, ca. 130€

That makes 1190€ ... so Lizard is right ... around 200 bucks difference, if you buy everything separately. But if you don't want / can change pickups yourself or don't have time for that, the limited run is superb.

Alternatively, get a used set of TV Jones for €200-250 and pay a tech for the install €50-100. Sell the Blacktops for €50, and buy a €60 generic Thomann dreadnaught case.

I got a set of used classics for £100 and installed them myself, and spent the change on cookies.

I couldn't be happier with my Thomann FSR 5420 (bigger headstock and all):
I play it more than I do my proline.

Visually though (for me), all these orange special run 5420's are lacking the final touches of a gold pickguard and gold pickup surrounds.

The 2015 Thomann FSR was excellent value for money. This new one, not so much.

Yes. And with the right mods you'll get a close to perfect guitar. But rising prices everywhere!
