Yes, I've already got the headstock decal, it's a gold waterslide decal.
Well, it looked already pretty good to me.
Actually it was the way I’d like my 5220 to look after the mods I have in mind...
That's a fair comment about you preferring a fixed bridge.
As for better tone I've no idea but I don't like Bigsby's with a tension bar and I think a floating bridge is part of what gives a Gretsch its mojo.
Yeah It looked OK
Where did you get this decal???
Here is link:
I've used them a few times and reckon they're great quality decals.
Excellent job and great pics! Thanks for the decal link. Best of luck on the project!
This is one of those threads I’m going to keep coming back to check on.
Truly inspiring work you’re doing.
Well I don't have any bigby's with a tension bar - no need
I love this thread and what you are doing, I am so tempted to make my own custom duojet, don't think I'd go as far to to raise the neck like you have but if I could find a cheap project proline 6128 I'd be keen to have a go at what your doing.
Eagerly looking forward to updates.
Cheap pro line? Good luck mate, I’ve been on a hunt for years and ended up on a 5220...
Btw, a while ago there was a pre FMIC duo jet on Reverb from Japan that has been all black painted (including binding) and they did a pretty poor job, so it looked really horrible (that’s probably the reason why the guy was selling it, as everything else seemed ok). It was selling for 900 Euros (so pretty affordable). I didn’t check back lately but you may want to try...
Not much to do until nitro arrives hopefully in a couple of days.
So I thought I'd share some pics of the hardware I'll be using.
and of course the B3 with rev soft spring
Kluson waffle back tuners
DIY jewelled knobs
All of the metal hardware has been gently(ish) aged.
I like the look of aged hardware on a non aged guitar.
Two neck HS filtertrons sans wax,
Inspired by ZackyDog and they sound great esp in middle pos.
Compton Aluminium chambered bridge.
I guess some great things come of of lockdown! this is crazy hahaha
Yes it is, but oh what fun
please do update us in this thread so we can follow along, looking great already
Every step of the way friend
Well....cheap for a proline anyway lol.
I got one of these armrests to fit on this jet, trouble is the radius is to big it would fit on a 5420 perfectly but I don't like them on those guitars but think they look good on a jet.
Anyone know where I can get one for a jet?
Or maybe you have one you can sell me?
Did you plug the 3 control pot holes on the lower bout and then refinish in black?
Yes that's exactly what I did but just sprayed over the top of existing black.
