How useful is a Strat? Do I need one?

From an engineering standponit the invention of the Telecaster and later the Stratocaster was a quantum leap. Nothing like it has been before. Both were totally untraditional and perfect right from the start. Somehow I believe that only a non-guitarist like Mr. Fender could invent something...

How useful is a Strat? Do I need one?

I absolutely love the look of your silver Strat with the blue-see-through-pickguard. That one is out of this world. Spectacular guitar.

How useful is a Strat? Do I need one?

To me it seems that there is a general problem with this model: There are far too many variants around today and the old ones are quite pricy. You want a model to feel and sound like you experienced it when your guitarist friend lended it to you in 1972. You see a Strat in Fender`s catalogue...

How useful is a Strat? Do I need one?

I have a long love/hate relationship with Strats. And I actually used to own more than a dozen of them over the years. From original 70ies to standard modern US models, MIJ, MIM to Custom Shop to Tokai. First problem was that I am a heavy rock player and a Strat is basically too shrill on the...

Comparing AmpliTube to the Real Thing

I am more and more convinced that digital amps on digital media are a good and convenient thing. For stage - use I ave not encountered a digital amp that does the dynamics and nuanced distortion like a tube amp, yet.

Richard Fortus Model - Master Volume & Treble Bleed values?

I actually use the mud-switch as it is. I like it. As to capacitor values on a treble-bleed volume-pot: You cannot imagine how long it took to find the value that I like on my Boewe Strat-models. So getting this info from you will save me a lot of time if I should look for a mod on my 6119.

Neck Reset Recommendations - '60 Chet Atkins 6120

That maybe a possible answer to your problem. I would first contact the luthier who did the resets and ask him. Although he did not succeed yet he would be the first that I would ask and then decide what to do next.

About electromatics, pickups and forum talking…

I really believe that our instrument consists of a guitar, a cable, maybe some effects, the amp and a speaker-box. Some components really shine when combined some need other components to do so. I have never been a friend of standard Stratocasters until I discovered the right rig for it...

WoodIdentifierExpertPersons Needed: Ebony or Dark Rosewood?

Compared to the fretboard of my guitars I would assue that it is an ebony board. My Rosewood boards have much more and much bigger pores.

I wonder if "Blitzkrieg Bop" could be played on a Gretsch?

The primitiveness of this music is pure genius. Even the nerdiest musos will dance violently to the Ramones.

    Bad Guitar Day

I always wonder who is actually buying guitars like that. For the sake of playing it you could get a working Ibanez at this pricepoint and be happy. If you originally wanted to show-off with a luxury instrument and buy something like that for cheap, everybody and his grandma would instantly...
