How useful is a Strat? Do I need one?

I have an American Player tele, that I just put a McNeely Duckling neck pickup into, cuz I really dont like playing strats if I dont have to. I do have my original 91' Strat but it has flatwounds and is not the typical and overly nauseating SRV copy.. but I do like the sound of a Strat in the...

My new guitar is... a Bigsby!

bigsby pickups in a gretsch are a great thing! Jove from eagles of death metal had TK load his jet up gretsch custom shop stern w tksmith open top CARS (bigsby replicas w exposed bobbins, much brighter when not encased in alum)

My new guitar is... a Bigsby!

very nice build to the original Paul Smith first made for Merle Travis! Similar to our USA Dr of all things Bigsby; TK Smith. I do have my questions though about any pickups mojotone builds as far as being authentic Bigsby. Lots of pkup builders make bigsby style pickups that look like the...

About to buy a Jet - where to even begin when it comes to adding a Bigsby?

@Mr Twangy @Dunlop27 Unless you machined the V stop's string channels to be both glass smooth in the tunnel and then properly chamfered w 0 distinct edges, you will damage your strings ie break them constantly in the pass through friction. The Towner bar consists of 3 sections (5 pieces)...

Are TVJ Classics that much different in a jet vs a hollowbody?

well for one, a gretsch guitar with a 16" lower bout that is hollow and totaly maple.. cannot and does not sound like a gretsch that has a 13" lower bout, that has a 2.25" thick solid mahogany routed body w a maple top. They do share a 24.6" scale. I'll give you that.. so when you put Tvjones...

Are TVJ Classics that much different in a jet vs a hollowbody?

how can you say there is not that much difference between a set of classics in my SSU vs my Fender Telecaster? :) Its like saying the taste and smell of a Grapefruit and a Lemon, is noticeable but not much difference.. They are both citrus, thats about it. Same w a filtertron in my tele versus...

Are TVJ Classics that much different in a jet vs a hollowbody?

That question depends on if you feel the need for a toolchest of unlike tools? :) There is a very big difference between jones filtertrons, and they all respond very different in hollowbodies, semi hollows, and planks. I need to know what your ear wants or doesnt want.

    Anyone have a 2008/09 MIJ 6130 Roundup?

I've had two roundups in the past, but not the 6131 pine top, a perfect top in my opion. I'd want to finance one in a heartbeat if they offered it in all brass hardware to match the buckle and leather tacks. shiny gold hardware makes me get all itchy feelin, like I'm about to get pimp slapped.

I replaced the bridge studs w SAE steel adaptors and installed a gotoh tuneomatic. all drop in, but with either bridge the saddle slots must be cut for the exact string gauge you are using or they bind. Once they are cut correctly, then they can be cleaned w some emory paper n lubed. perfecto...
