    NBBDAD (w/ a side of Brain :) ): It's a Mesa :D

Thanks a bunch guys! More time w/ the amp today w/ an additional gamut of guitars & the latest small orange themed board w/ the Mystery Brain pulling preamp duties plugged into it & I'm entirely hooked :) Managed to find a sweet spot for the blues voice on the 2nd channel to where I don't feel...

I wonder if "Blitzkrieg Bop" could be played on a Gretsch?

Played it quite a bit w/ the band w/ my TVJ'd 5655 Double Jet, not at all out of place for Ramones or any other punk/hardcore going into the right amp/pedals to my ears. My TVJ'd Franken- Ibanez RC320 is still one of my faves for any kind of rude crunchy dirt & lays down some fairly impressive...

NGD - is it blue or is green - or is it somewhere in-between?

Congrats! Never played one of the American Originals but any of the ancestor AVRI I've tried certainly were great IMO. Awesome that it came w/ the full StayTrem treatment & especially at that price w/ what the recent market has seemed to have become. To me it looks like pretty "standard"...

    NAD x 3.....seventies glory

Congrats (x3)! I had never heard of them before but they look awesome. Nothing wrong w/ some SS love in my book. I've tended to like the discrete ones (which I gotta assume these are) better on average than the integrated circuit based ones, but there's definitely a place for some solid state...

    NBBDAD (w/ a side of Brain :) ): It's a Mesa :D

I've been staying away from the music stores & sites the past few months, but it sounds like the guys will be getting back together to play some music for the 1st time in ~2.5 years here on Sunday so I wound up swingng by the local GC for some strings & a long-ish speaker cable & kill some time...

    Favorite stereo pedals?

The Strymon Deco is my current favorite, but I haven't run any guitar in stereo w/ regularity for many moons at this point. It's been really effective at making me feel like I have Eddie Kramer on a pair of tape decks doing my modulation for me while I play when set for modulation w/ awesome...

    Show us your pedalboard

Updated the small Gator board w/ the Mr. Moto pedal replacing the Boing: I'm a bit underwhelmed by the verb on the Mr. Moto so far: it seems plenty serviceable for spring-ish ambiance & does a fairly good drip impression on muted notes when dialed up past ~12:30-1 o'clock, but the dwell on...

Checked out a couple new Players Editions today & one followed me home... :D

Wound up swapping to the vintage narrow arm, the Multi-strapper buttons & a handful of other gold screws from the Bigsby hinge & jack plates over to nickel plated replacements over the past week & snapped a bench pic of it earlier this afternoon: Really wish I could find somewhere you could buy...

    Show us your pedalboard

Been working on a setup on the small Gator board the past few days for the new fuzz to live on for the present. I wound up getting my steelbilly Mystery Brain last night & swapped over to it & rerouted to get the fuzz in front of the Brain & use the insert on the new Brain (my lime one that I...

NPD: We could have a real cool fuzz, tonight... :D

Thanks guys! Yeah, I'm planning to order some so I've got a couple full spare sets on hand. I just wanted to get the 6120 strung back up fully this afternoon & couldn't wait ;)

    Awesome man, big Congrats!

NPD: We could have a real cool fuzz, tonight... :D

Wound up having to swing by Guitar Center this afternoon to buy my 3rd pack of NYXL .011-.049 for the new 6120 since the .011 broke at the post yet again retensioning it in the process of swapping the stock arm & wound up coming home +1 fuzz to boot: I've only plugged the 6120 & my J Mascis JM...

Where were Gretsch Duo Jets made in 1997 and 1998?

My pre-FMIC Silver Jet was/is certainly much heavier than either my 2016 6128T or Penguin, I'm guessing it's at least 9.5-10 lbs.. Also seems to respond significantly more like a solid body than either of the newer ones. It came to me w/ a little "Made in Japan" foil sticker at the neck joint...

Checked out a couple new Players Editions today & one followed me home... :D

I adjusted the pickup body & pole piece heights yesterday to the TV Jones starting points & wound up swapping over to a newer Gretsch RBB when intonation was being a pain w/ the Compton (it was cut for .010-.046 w/ a wound .018 3rd & the pinned base was making the angling for the wound strings...

Got round one of personalization for this one completed tonight, swapping all the pickup related screws, guard bracket & its screws, tuners, strap buttons, bridge, & thumbwheels: I couldn't manage to put hands on the TruArc RBB in my searching last night so grabbed the chambered steel...

Thanks again! After spending another 4 hours or so bonding fairly heavy w/ it unplugged & through the Vibrolux stack this afternoon I'm feeling it's a keeper for sure & just finished ordering some bits for it. Decided I was going to try a semi 2 tone look for the hardware w/ the aluminium...

Wanted Looking for a Tru Arc or Compton - 12" radius, 2 7/8" post width, 2 1/16" string spacing, 10s/11s

As titled, I'm looking for a replacement for the AoM on my new 6120 PE. Specs: 12" radius 2 1/16" string spacing 2.9" post spacing Cut for 10s or 11s Would prefer aluminium, steel, or brass in that order. Let me know if you got one you're looking to get rid of. Thanks!

I've liked the SV20s I've played through a whole lot. They're pretty crazy loud (especially when you consider they're just 20 watts) if you're looking to get deep into their natural breakup unattenuated but really impressive in tone & feel. Seems like a great JTM type amp to me. I'd almost...

Checked out a couple new Players Editions today & one followed me home... :D

I've only tried them straight into the SV20C & through my board into my GVT-15H at the shop so far & not at any great degree of volume, but so far they might just be my favorite Gretsch made pickup of the modern era in a big-ish full hollow. They seem to have a bit more body to them than HS...

The Ever Changing Whims of a Fickle Buying Public

Guy Piciotto from Fugazi is one that had a hand in me getting a 330. Started before 1990 but I have the impression he's still using one.

The Ever Changing Whims of a Fickle Buying Public

I'm also a mostly equal opportunity guitar lover. I love the Rics I own & also appreciate the more independent, keep it small kind of business, but they strike me as rather arrogant in their approach in general. They expect a player to adapt to them, rather than the other way around, which...

Checked out a couple new Players Editions today & one followed me home... :D

Thanks man! Yeah, this approach seems to preserve a heck of a lot more of the things I feel makes a Gretsch a Gretsch for me functionally while updating some aspects in a way where if you want to change to a more vintage correct solution it's at least within a fairly close grasp. Seemed that...

One of these new 6120 Nashville PEs caught my eye last weekend while I was perusing the glass cage of emotion at the local GC & planted a seed of curiosity deep enough I had to go back to give it a spin this afternoon. It turned into a fairly protracted A/B session between it & a Country Gent...

Is the Bigsby a Tremolo or Vibrato?

All wiggly bits are vibratos in that they modulate pitch. Tremolo is modulation of amplitude (at least as it relates to electric guitars). I primarily blame Fender for flipping the names personally.
