I have a G5232T i did similar mods to. Schaller tuners, TV jones pickups, compton bridge... So get the new guitar and upgrade them both to top...
i became a lego fan recently, i'm building the typewriter at the moment, but i'm not sold on the Fender.
Have you guys seen the Korg Miku pedal? I think that's funnier because it was not created as a joke.
Why an accoustic guitar? Because when you hook it up to effects and a distorted amp like John Butler and Ben Howard do it's really cool.
