TIs are warmer because they're nickel wrap and have round cores. Generally speaking, if you want brighter you want hex core and/or steel wrap....

If you want to stay with the TOM bridge, I've found filing the grooves a bit helps a lot. I used welding torch tip cleaners to enlarge the groves...

I use wound Gs unless I'm playing with rounds. Wound Gs sound a bit less clangy and a bit more solid, but both are fine.
