Ya know I consider myself a good geeetar player, but I’m an old dinosaur when it comes to technology. But even an old dog like myself can learn new tricks, and I’m having a ball with those new tricks😁😁😁
Well I’m gonna check out that Jangle box, but I’m thinking maybe a delay and chorus would go nicely with the Jangle box as well.
Ya know I learned to
Play in the 60’s there were no pedals then, we just learned how to set up the amp and geeetar and start rockin! But as of late I’ve been getting...
I have a Gretch 5420 T with TV Jones Classic filtertrons and a complete TV Jones harness. The geeetar was set up perfect with a nice fret leveling and the pups adjusted perfectly. I’ve been playing a lot of rock a Billy and 50’s rock with it, and playing through a Fender Blues Deluxe reissue...
Funny that was a type O when I started this discussion, I ment Electromatic, not Electromotive, but the funny thing is when I got out of the army I worked there at the plant in McCook Illinois for a very short time while waiting for my apprenticeship to come in. I was a hooker, that’s the guy...
I not only have a Korean made Fairlane Blue 5420, I also have an orange 5420 also Korean made, and Newark St Guild Starfire V, also made in Korea. All of them are really nice guitars right out of the box. But with most production guitars a little handwork by a competent luthier can take them to...
I have a 2018, 5420T in Fairlane blue, it’s made in Korea, but I’ve noticed the newer ones are now being made in China! Why? Do the Chinese ones have the same build quality, fit and finish, and sound quality as the Korean ones? If not what are the differences?
Thanks,
Paul
Hi All,
I’ve got a 5420 T and had it all set up and some fret leveling. The guitar played amazing, then I noticed the high E, and B strings weren’t ringing clear. I looked at the bridge and the treble side had moved almost all the way down, I turned the thumb wheel counter clockwise and raised...
I have two 5420 T’s one is Fairlane Blue, the other in Orange stain. I love them both but the prob was they both have blacktop Filtertron pups, and since I wanted a different sound from them I changed out all the electronics in the 5420 T in Orange stain. I ordered two TV Jones
Classic pups...
These are my two vintage guitars, a Mosrite Celebrity on the left and a Ric 375 on the right. I bought the Mosrite new in 1967, and the Ric in 1969
Paul
Thanks for all the reply’s, I’m gonna get one, I don’t like the knobs, but that’s an easy and inexpensive fix. But what I was really glad to hear is it has small frets I’m guessing like the pre CBS Fender's and Mosrite, ya either love them or hate them. I still have my first nice guitar, a 1967...
I have two Electromatics, both 5420 t and I love them, they’re not the pro series, but a really lot of guitar for the money. I pretty much know the differences between the pro line and Electromatics. I’m thinking of getting a 2622 P90, as I really like the sound of P 90’s, but my question is how...
Ok I’m convinced, I’ll change out the pups, pots, and wireing harness or I should say I’ll have the luthier do it. They’ll both be 5420 T’s but hopfully will sound completely different.
I have two Gretsch 5420 T’s. One in Fairlane blue, and one in orange stain. Since they’re both identical except the colors I though maybe I’d like to have a pair of TV Jones classics installed in one, prob the orange stain one. That should give each one a different voice, but my question is how...
Hi all
In a previous thread I asked how to reverse my pup selector switch as it was reversed.
Well you guys got me all fixed up, l loosened the set ring on the pup selector, turned it 1/2 turn counter clockwise and presto fixed. I wanna thank you all again for the advise.
Paul
Thanks so much for the advise I’m gonna loosed the switch and turn it counter clockwise, I hope it straights the switch out. Thanks again I greatly appreciate it.
Paul
I have a 5420 T I bought used st Sweetwater, it’s a great guitar and mint condition except the pup selector is backwards. In the down position you get the neck pup, in the up position you get the bridge pup. I’d like to just loosen the switch and position it correctly, but I’m not sure if...
