Yesterday I went back to my luthier to get my 5127 from a set up, he also changed the nut, that I thought would be made of some kind of plastic... But the old nut was actually bone, and I got the guitar new from a store here I'm Brazil, it's not supposed to be an used guitar, so I got curious...

Usually the bolt on top bigsby is seen on the earlier 512x...

Don't worry, some of the 512x have walnut sides, like the silver and gold sparkle... I had the same thought before seeing my 5127 in person... Actually the first time I saw her I thought she was purple.

My g5127 has a black back, not walnut. That switch there and no master volume is also mysterious... I'm sure it sounds great tough.

At least the guy admitted that, despite his feelings for gretsches, Brian Setzer does get extremely good sounds of a vintage 6120... But I also disagree. Not just to the gretsch part, but rickenbacker too...

And once a bass player told me that he just used old strings, because new ones were way to bright...

I wouldn't put nylon strings on, the tension would be way to low, so the neck would "feel" it... You could try some flatwounds...

I started using a Chet Atkins style thumb pick, and I usually hold it as a regular pick, it's stuck in my finger and gives freedom to the index one when I need to fingerpick...
