TV Jones found a new home

I have a Gretsch Electromatic G5622T and I had upgraded the pickups to a set of TV Jones Classic/Classic plus. Trouble was I never really gelled with the feel of the guitar, so I took the TV Jones out and polished it up ready to sell. Fast forward to last month. I ordered a Cabronita body in a...

Before I leave the Gretsch fold...

Firstly, this isn't meant to be one of those attention seeking 'I'm leaving the forum' type posts. It's just that I've come to the conclusion that I just don't enjoy playing my Gretsch, despite loving the looks of it. I've done some upgrades to try to get the sound I thought I wanted ended up...

    Family photos.

I've been meaning to do a group photo now I've just about finished all my various upgrades and cosmetic tweaks to my guitars. Just got a re-fret (Epiphone) and a new nut to fit (SG), so I figured that won't make any difference to the photo. Hope you like them: From left to right: '54 Esquire...

    Esquire project completed (nearly)

This has been a project long in the planing and the guitar has been through various stages: It started as a £99 Squier Telecaster that I modified into an Esquire with a blank control plate and the single pickup wired direct to the jack. I was never a big fan of the neck as it was narrow and...

Who'd have thought it? Gibson SG for me...

When I bought my G5622T in January this year I though it would be the last guitar I bought for a long time. I'm an amateur player, do a few open mics and I'm in a couple of bands that maybe only play once or twice a year. I was up to 7 guitar with the G5622T purchase and really this was enough...

UK deal on G5622T £599 at PMT

I got an email this morning that PMT are selling the Orange, Walnut and Georgia Green versions of the G5622T for £599, which is over £100 less than I paid for mine earlier this year. I rushed into buying mine as the prices were going up to around £820-850 so I had to get a black one...

    Tuning issues...

My G5622T doesn't seem to stay in tune well after I've played a few tunes with any heavy strumming. I don't tend to use the trem and the nut itself seems to be well cut, however I do wonder if the slots are cut too deep and I might benefit from sanding the top of the nut down so that the strings...

How do Super HiLo Trons fit with other Gretsch pickups?

Hi, Gretsch don't list the Super HiLoTron on their otherwise helpful specs page: https://gretschguitars.com/support/specs-explained/pickups I'm trying to work out where they fall relative to the other pickups shown, in terms of 'power' and 'definition' so I can decide on what to change them...

    Kelvin's guitar thread. :)

Rather than further bump up my prices thread, I thought I'd start a separate one now that I've received my guitar and had chance to play it a bit. I took plenty of photos, so no duplicates from my other thread. :) I have a stealth amp set up with a Marshall head in the cupboard under my TV...

    UK prices increased today?

Hi, new member here... I've been researching Electromatics for a while now and finally got to play one last week. They didn't have the colour I wanted in stock, so I've spent this week looking around online and debating exactly what to order. Got back from a work trip tonight and noticed that...

Hello from Berkshire; G5422T on order!

Hi, I've just placed an order for a Black G5622T Electromatic. I've been reading up on Gretsch for ages now and finally got to play a Walnut G5622T last week at Andertons in Guildford, which confirmed that it suited my hands and playing. Unfortunately they didn't have my preferred black...
