Can you play Leslie West on a Roundup?

I used my Roundup on this giant, crazy gig. I played 44 of the 52 songs that night. The list was very varied, and because you can really only bring 1 guitar (storage space is non-existent) I decided to take my 2009 Knotty Pine Roundup. One main reason was weight. I recently had a heart procedure...

    Hallmark Deke Dickerson Model I

I go back and forth between this Hallmark and a Roundup for Surf and C/W gigs. Made in Korea, wired and finished in the US. 90 were built in 3 batches of 30 each. The guitar is based off a double neck Mosrite built for Joe Maphis by Semie Mosely in the 50's. Pickups are copies of the Carvin...

    Anyone have a 2008/09 MIJ 6130 Roundup?

I believe 75 of these were made. I added a Bigsby and a Mono Plak TRC. They don't offer a Gretsch version, so I sent them the stock TRC and they modified one for me. I also changed the 6 bridge screws to a lower profile. I can see how that was a turn-off for someone picking one up in the 50's...

    Hallmark Deke Dickerson Model I.

Based off the early 1950's double neck that Semie Moseley built for Joe Maphis. It's a bit big, it's a bit heavy (even chambered!), but the sound is amazing. Pickups based off the Carvin units from back in the day. Both together is a full and clear sound. Powerful! This was another guitar I...

When your Girlfriend loves you (and Guitars!).

When I worked at The Music Zoo, I posted a picture of me with a Chet Atkins that had come in, writing "Holding my Dream Guitar!". It sold the next day at the store. (Had a repaired neck. He got a deal!) My g/f saved that picture and, knowing very little about Gretsches at the time, checked...

Painted 5220. This fell out of her pretty little head.

My g/f Dawn is very artistic (and LOVES Gretsches!), so I said "Let's get you one to paint!". This is an import 5220 in Casino Gold. She didn't even sketch it out or plan it in her head...she sat down with Acrylic paint pens and went at it. Our initials D&J are behind the bridge pickup. She put...

The B16 is a WHOLE other Animal!!

Guys always ask what the crazy Bigsby is on my Esquire (after they ask why it only has 1 pickup and I have to explain what an Esquire was/is). Bigsby designed it and built it...then Leo did the Strat, which just about killed the B16. Not all Tele bodies are exactly the same, so you will...

    2009 Roundup KPW

A few years back, I posted a shot of myself holding a Chet Atkins 6121 and said "this is my dream guitar". Christmas came and this was under the tree for me! (She's as much a Gretsch lover as I). They don't pop-up for sale often, and Dawn checked Reverb / EBay every day. Her "when you see it...

    B3G or B3 on a Roundup?

The love of my life got me my Gretsch dream guitar for XMas...a 2009 6130KPW Roundup. While I love the Belt Buckle, I’m a Bigsby guy. I need recommendations from those with experience. -B3 or B3G (Gold plated). Which would work best after removing what is there? I know that holes won’t line up...

    Gretsch employees...1950 - 54, 1963 - 68. Questions??

After over a year, I will be talking to a woman who worked at Gretsch from 1950 through 1954. Medical setbacks have caused a wait to speak with her, but I'll talk to her by 1/23. After posting a picture of the Grestch factory on FB for the woman to see, I got a message from a guy who knows a...

I know you guys like Lime Metalflake Guitars...

My girlfriend recently painted this for a client. She really flaked it up nice. Lots of coats, then a lot of clear to get it smooth. All Nitro Lacquer, called "Limetreusse". He had an artist airbrush the Rat Fink. Gonna look great at Rockabilly gigs! We tried to get him to go for a matching...

    B16 on a Custom Esquire.

See my avatar. My g/f built it, I wanted something that "might" have been made, but I never saw one. B16 was installed by a guy who is a master...it never goes out of tune, never gives me a bit of trouble...and that's in 3 years of constant jamming/gigging.

    Why wasn't I here earlier?

I'm on every damn Guitar Forum I can find, why haven't I been here before? Living on Long Island and working often in Brooklyn, I get to pass the old Factory every once in a while. Great vibe when you drive by!

    1950's Gretsch employee...

I recently found out that the mother of a woman I know worked at the Gretsch Factory from about 1950 through 1954. As I spoke to my friend on the phone, her Mom was telling her how she made "Guitars and Mandolins and Drums and all kinds of things", and that every Tuesday, the bigwigs went to...

    "Gretschified" Reverend

My g/f wanted to paint this one a shade of Burgundy Mist that she mixed up. Because of the pickups, she said "we need to put something Gretsch-y on this one!!", so she had her shop make a 3/8 Plexi guard and she shot it Gold from behind (we almost put a Reverend decal underneath). The screws...
