    Lets talk strings.

GHS Boomers on everything including basses. They have this little extra $%&#?= in my opinion.

Well... It also said in post 21 that someone may be able to give me a more precise date. So, I hope someone will. (I don't see the point in writing norwegian on an english speaking forum. And what you're writing is of no help)

    6119 1964 serial number

Hi all. There are some interest in buing the guitar, but I've decided to keep it or sell it locally. I did not create this post to sell the guitar, but get help finding and identify the serial number. Is there anyone who can help me identify it? The number is 64884. Thanks. obo

On closer inspection, maybe it could be a wrap of some kind. It's thicker than a regular paint job would be. If it is, there are some clear coat on it, because the edges around the f-holes are smooth. Anyhow, it's superb craftsmanship.

I've tried, but no luck. I don't remember the mans name and there are no purchase history on the site where I found the guitar.

Thanks. I don't know if it's a custom finish or a refinish. Did Gretsch do custom paint jobs? The paint is thick so you can feel with your finger that the f-holes are "lower". If you know what I mean. Can't find the right word for it. You can even see it when the light is right. It's definitely...

For you who want to buy the guitar: Shouldn't it be worth more than a reissue? The cheapest reissue I found on eBay with tone selector and bypass switch is about 2100 EUR/US $2300 new and about 1300 EUR/US $1400 used + shipping and import taxes. At the moment I'm thinking about 1600 EUR/US...

Thanks for the info guys. I found the serial number at the tip/edge of the headstock. Very small numbers with wood oil in them. Wouldn't have found it without knowing where to look. See picture. The number is 64884. Is it year 64-month 8-production number 84? Unfortunately I don't know much...

Thanks for your replies. I removed the pickups and used a flashlight to look inside, found no serial number. I guess I'll have to sell it without knowing the serial number. Since the guitar is customised, it would have been a proof of authenticity. I turned the neck pickup around when I put it...

I don't think there's been a plate on it. The headstock looks original with no holes. O_

Yes:) I think the inlay is a bit much. It also takes a bit to get used to when playing. I like the fact that the guitar is not brown though. I guess the paint job and the inlay reduces the value. I'm looking to buy a red double cutaway Jet. I had a Jet earlier. I prefer the size. Any idea how...

    6119 1964 serial number

Hi. I got hold of this 6119 from an elderly guy a while back. I didn't ask him much about the guitar, he sounded sick and not very talkative. It was very cheap so I just bought it. The guitar was in excellent shape except for the bridge saddles. They where plastic and chipped. It had 70's...
