Is there a Metalurgist in the house??

Hi! Been a while since I strolled through these here parts...hope y'all are doing ok. Question for the Cognescenti.... On my '06 6120SSL (Orange Tiger Maple Lacquer Brian Setzer Nashville) it is adorned with silver finished tuners, Bigsby, control knobs. Can anyone identify what the finish...

Hey Synchro, Thanks for the reply. BTW, I've still got an audio track of you playing a jazzy bit from years ago. Hope you are well, Bob

    Heel Separation G6120SSL

BTW, does anyone know how Gretsch attaches their necks to the body? Is it a dovetail joint or is it a bolt on neck?

    Heel Separation G6120SSL

Uncle Daddy, I did this as soon as I spotted the gap. Watching my head stock mounted tuner I struck an open string and then applied pressure to the back of the head stock. I could detect no lowering of pitch. I could see no change to the (very slight) gap.

    Repair Bug Spray Damage?

    Repair Bug Spray Damage?

FWIW...I just spoke to Gretsch and was informed that the guitar has a lacquer finish with NO clear coat. I am dealing with a chemical reaction and not a residue. He strongly discouraged sanding and wasn't too keen on rubbing compound. His only suggestion was to try a polish made specifically...

    Repair Bug Spray Damage?

If I had to guess, I'd say the chemicals from the bug spray have chemically interacted with either the clear coat, the lacquer finish or both. I will not attempt sandpaper...I'd probably make things worse. May take it by a guitar shop in Atlanta and see what they say.
