Maybe you've heard the story of my old National Duolian.

I picked it up in the late 80's/early 90's. 1935 Duolian, refinned in neat red sparkle. Well, you know how times get rough, and you gotta let the high $$ stuff go to pay the rent. So I sold my Duolian to Buffalo Brothers in Carlsbad/San Diego.

A few years later, I was "back in the chips" and played a friend's reso. I got to missing my old Duolian, and wondered if I'd ever be able to get it back. Phone call to Buffalo Brothers confirmed that it had sold.

But, hey, how many red sparkle '35 Duolians could there be in the world? So I search "red duolian" on eBay, and after about a week and a half of searching, it showed up!! Just a little bit more that I had sold it for. So I bid, and I win. The guy sends me payment and shipping info. He's shipping from Lima, Peru. Well, how the heck did my Duolian get to Peru????

Turns out the seller was a Marine, and a huge resonator guitar fan. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton (Just outside Carlsbad), and was assigned later to the American Embassy in Lima. He was selling off a few of his resos to fund a custom Scheerhorn guitar. So this baby came back to me from South America! What are the odds?
