    hi new to the forum
    just purchased a '66 6019
i noticed a wood plug on the back heel of the neck about a 1/2" diameter
sort of looks like a neck repair
my question is if anyone has seen this on other vintage Gretsch guitars
i was wondering if this could have been done at the factory
    i can't seem to post a picture
    any help would be appreciated

I'm no expert, but that's normal. The experts will be along shortly to confirm. I think I read once that it covers the dowel.

The plug is stock. I own an Aug. '66 Tennessean that I bought new. Never been worked on by a repairman.

It's a reinforcement dowel, and is standard on Gretsch guitars from that period.

There's a big sheet metal screw under that plug. Not Gretsch's brightest idea, but it is original.
