I recently bought a pair of vintage Filter'Trons and installed them into my MYII. One thing I noticed was that the wire from the Pickups was of a much lower gauge than the wire harness that came stock on the guitar.

I'm going to be getting a matching gauge wire and re-wiring the whole thing and was wondering if anybody has found that this would improve the tone at all?

It could, I wouldn't take that to the bank. I think you would notice more out of higher quality caps or better pots... but probably not. lol.

I already bypassed all caps/pots and am wired directly to the PU selector and that improved a lot.

Improved or changed the circuit giving it a different characteristic?

You're asking if a different thickness of copper is going to change the tone enough for you to hear the difference? Seems a little ridiculous to me.
