For me, it's the G5420. It plays pretty well and sounds good, and it is unbeatable for the price. I am not afraid of it, as I would be with a pro-line.
It's my first and only guitar. I learned on it, jammed on it, and ended up gigging with it. All the practices and all the people I met because of it make it special to me, so it is my favorite!
Although I never owned either one , I always loved the lime green two tone Annie and the Tennessee Rose . There just soooooo beautiful in there own way
My old 6136T....Big, bold and a bit brassy; I do miss my Falcon!
My all-time favorite Gretsch is my 6119 1959RI Tennessee Rose built in 2007:
First of all: It is a one-pickup-affair.
Most of you know already that I really love one-pickup-guitars.
The TV Jones Powertron is the perfect Filtertron variant for me. You can do nearly every kind of musical style with this guitar. It is surprisingly versatile.
The weight, the neck and the general shape of this guitar feels super comfy to me.
The trestle-bracing makes it controllable when playing loud. (That`s what I mostly do.)
The Bigsby on this one can`t be knocked out of tune even when really abusing it.
The colour is a see-through tomato-soup red. So posh. So well made. So sturdy. A feast for the eyes.
It feels luxurious like a big old Cadillac Convertible.
When playing heavy rock music no one expects a guitar like this on stage. I usually get many compliments for it.
This guitar makes me feel like a rockstar.
Same old question: Which one of your kids do you love the most? Impossible to answer!
I’ve known a few women like that Larry!
...all good qualities too!!!
I have to say a Panther but I would like to add an orange 6120 someday.
My favourite Gretsch guitars are the ones I'll never be able to afford, unless I sell a kidney or some other organ I can get by without!
My 6121-1959 Duo Jet is my favorite
A real looker and what I believe to be a 9.5 radius ebony neck.
Plays, sounds, and looks great!
6120W with a P90 plonked in the neck position, thank you goodnight.
Not only my favorite Gretsch, but my favorite guitar period: my '99 6120-60 Nashville.
Some people complain about the electronics in these pre-FMIC models, but no problems whatsoever with mine over 19 years of playing it. Totally love this guitar!
Boy all of you have great taste in guitars. I don't see a bad one in the bunch.
Maybe that`s because there weren`t too many bad Gretsch models made...
Maybe because our friends at GT have good taste in guitars. Gretsch guitars that is.
Annis, Annis and 5129s, which is just a red Anni with DeArmond pickups.
