i know this one may sound corny but Stray Cat Strut really epitomizes the "Great Gretsch Sound" to me.

the big clean tone, the bigsby action in the solo... always brings a smile to my face :)

and the fact that you can play that song on any other guitar but it will never sound the same (or as good) as when played a Gretsch.

what song does it for you?

The song "Aunt's Invasion" by Shadow Men On A Shadowy Planet... is pretty much the main reason why I own a Gretsch, or ever even wanted to play one. The first time I heard this song, the hair on the back of my neck stood up and I got chills from head to toe. It's just a great song, with tons of that Great Gretsch Sound :D

Look it up on YouTube, if you can. It rocks!

"Avalon" off of Chester and Lester. Say what you will about Chet, but he could play. His breaks on Avalon are magnificant. For those who haven't heard it, "Chester and Lester" is a great album.

Ryan Adams and the Cardinals performed his song "Let It Ride" on David Letterman a few years ago.....the video quality is poor- but it looks like Ryan is playing a Silver Falcon...and his guitarist is playing a White Falcon, if I'm not mistaken. [ame=""][/ame]

Not sure if they used these guitars on the album........but I love the sounds of these Gretsch guitars in this performance......

As a longtime Gypsy jazz player, I have to point to, like him or not, Chet Atkins' stellar version of "Les Yeux Noir," or "Dark Eyes." Genius!

Incidentally--what are those pickups? I'm no expert on vintage Gretsches, but I don't quite recognize these.

Without a doubt the wildest, wackiest, most far out rock and roll song ever recorded. And the Gretsch is the only guitar that would work on it.

    Woo Eee Ah Ah!

Damn that's a great performance. Ryan Adams has made so much music that I lost track a long time ago. Thanks for bringing this to the listening party.
