No serial number or markings?
Odd one, ive never seen that one. Weird switch, knob locations too. Looks cool, are you sure its stock.
Seems odd to me too . No serial number on back of headstock / tailpiece looks a little weird to me also
Welcome to the forum friend
I bought it from a guy who said it was made at Fender Corona as a prototype, I was not sure if there were others out there.
Mite send a pic to Fender and ask for some help with it.
Welcome aboard Dan!
I have no idea but it looks cool!
70's style control lay out and the pickups kinda look like original 70's era Blacktops to me,the only ones i've seen with a switch were the master vol is are stereo geets,or Chet's old Gent.
70's style tail piece too.
Could this maybe have been a prototype for the cats eye Electro's ?
That was the hardware for the Tim Armstrong model, but that didn't come in orange, nor did it have Cat's Eyes. No thumbnails either. Thanks for bringing us a mystery model. Welcome to G-T!
It's an oddity - I love oddities - too bad she's not Lefty !
Welcome to G-T @Dancon99 !
Even for a prototype -- if that's what it is: it's curiously made: the cat's eyes are enormous, and the treble side cutaway doesn't even meet the neck at the same spot as the bass side (making it appear, in the photos at any rate, as if the neck was not mounted pointing straight toward the placement of the bridge). An offshore counterfeit, perhaps? Curious to hear what info Gretsch/Fender might offer.
How does it play/sound?
Yes, it is an electromatic prototype from a few years back.
Thanks for the input, it plays and sounds great, I don't think it is a Chinese knock-off, the build is very high quality. I'll upload some better pictures later on
Howdy! Welcome to the asylum!
Heck of a way to start in here---with an enigma guitar!
At least we know everything sounds better with Cat's Eyes!
Please do. I'm intrigued by Dr. Milktruck's comparison with the 5191.
If it's a prototype then I would not expect any serial number and it is probably pre model (5620 pr 5622)
More pix, tried to get a good one of the flame top.
Welcome to the forum, Dancon99 ! Very interesting guitar you have there!
Welcome to Gretschville! Curious case, doesn't look like a Chinese knockoff to me.
