I know, it's probably been discussed a thousand times....but I'll do it again. Apologies.

What amps do you guys favor for the hollow bodies? I pretty much like Vox. I'm not a Fender guy. I do have an Ibanez, they has really nice clean tones. Anyone ever try one of those?

The hollow body is new to me. Do you guys use pedals?

IMG_0308.JPG IMG_0309.JPG Roland JC-40 . I'm in a small house so I needed something with a headphone jack . Had a Blackstar HT-5 but waned something with a little more kick . Wish I had a tube amp sometimes , but when it comes to " green board " amps , Roland is the way to go

I go with Billy Duffy's set up -- WF into a Roland Jazz Chorus.

I find my VOX amps don't do much for my Gretsches. The Roland and my Fender are the amps I go to for Gretsch. Don't know why they work best for me, they just do.

I use Mesa Boogie but any good tube amp is the best with any great guitar imo.
If you have an expensive top of line guitar it defeats the purpose of owning one if you run it thru a cheap charlie average or poor quality amp & pedals.
I see lots of people doing it and can never understand why they bothered to buy the expensive Gretsch:)

My Gretsch guitars sound best through my Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb. My second choice would be my 65 Vox AC 30.

I've posted this imaged before but it illustrates my current live setup: Gretsch 6120N (or a Telecaster) --> Pedal Board --> Roland Blues Cube Artist (clean channel, 15W or 45W power setting). Awesome amp! I've recently installed the NY Blues Tone Capsule, which improves the already awesome tone even more (especially on the crunch channel).

Love that one, used to have a 63 just like it.

I'm currently mostly using a Vox AC15 C1 TV in blue/cream covering. Works really well with the big Gretsch. I have a bunch of Fender stuff downstairs in storage, going to rotate through some very soon (DRRI, Bassman Reissue, Blues Deluxe and an Excelsior).

I play my Silver Falcon through this setup too. Vintage Blackface Fenders (Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb) , a smattering of dirtboxes, some vintage some new. Waiting on the next batch of the Mystery Brain..

I use a Line 6 Amplifi 150 with a Shortboard, and I love it. I use a Kindle to edit the patches, and can back up settings to my PC. It's loud, doesn't weigh a ton, sounds great, and I have patches for each of my guitars - including the Gretsches. The amp models I gravitate towards are Mesa Boogie, Dual Rectifier, and Bogner Ubershall for high gain, and AC30, Roland JC120, and Fender Twin Reverb for clean. I don't go for crunchy much, but I like the Dr Z, Fender Vibroverb, and the Orange models when I do.

I use a Roland 40GX for practice, A Fender Deluxe Reverb for when I get more serious and I also have a fender Hot Rod Deville 212. I also have an Ampeg Micro-CL for Bass.

Mostly Fenders, which are a PRRI with a 12" cannabis rex installed from the factory, a 68' CDR, and a Supersonic 22 head. I've also got a Supro Jupiter reverb, and an Orange Dark Terror head I seldom use for gretsch unless it's a G5135 CVT.
