So I've been on my Gypsy Jazz kick for a few years now, and awhile back I decided to get serious on it.

I am currently working on the Jazz standard "All Of ME". I love Love the song and have finally got the entire Rhythm guitar part down. Now Im moving on to the Solo/Lead parts. Im about a 1/5 of the way thru and had to put it on hiatus till I finish some room addition work.

Tonite Im back on it full steam. I tried locating a simple solo Tab for it as I dont read music (anymore)but havent been able to find one Online. I found a Link a couple days ago that helping out so Im working with that. Its great trying to figure out the "puzzle" that is guitar and its opening up alot of things I never knew about chord structures and scales etc.

Whats everybody else tackling, music wise?

Working on a song called Mom Darlene's Song. It is all about her and me dealing with her in the final stages of dementia.
She has passed so it is more important I get this song right, Lyrics are finished, now I need to score it and add backing tracks.

Learning to work in a DAW with an acoustic, getting the hang of the Trio Band Creator pedal, layering guitar parts, and vamping up and down the guitar neck:

"Make it real" from the Scorpions has to be done until wednesday.
It`s a quick side project. 10 songs from the Scorps and about 3 or 4 rehearsals splashed over 5 months...So when we meet again everything rehearsed before is completely forgotten. HaHa.:D

It is something our drummer, Ralf, always wanted to do and invited me to be a part of.
Ralf is a student of Hermann Rarebell, the original Scorpions drummer.
He toured with them in the late seventies (Uli Jon Roth phase) with his band Glasshouse so he has some kind of close connection to this music. Far closer than me, I am afraid.
I am familiar with the songs but I feel a little bit strange playing them (my part is the Rudolf-Schenker part). (Like the Kiss project that I mentioned some months before this feels like marching-band-stuff to me. LoL.)
Anyway. I enjoy to play this stuff with a fine leadguitarist and a singer that I never worked with before, though.
It is nice that I can lean back here a little because I do not have to work out all the solos.

Matthias Jabs is such a virtuoso.
I could never manage to copy his stuff.
So I am at least comfortable with my role.
Stumming a straight, hard rhythm and striking superstar-poses. Yeah.

I think I will use a full-stack on thse gigs or mabe two of them:D:D:D:p.

I got a >40-song set list in my email today from the bandleader who hired me to play them on Thursday with him and a bass player (and no drummer). They’re all country songs and I know at least 90% of them so it won’t be too tough.

Then I get to play them again on Friday at a different venue (with the drummer), but to keep me from getting complacent (or something), I’ll be playing bass then.

Wow, Scorpions tunes are no joke to play. I was lucky enough to see them back in the early 80's when they had a string of hits. Great guitar work on their "Blackout"stuff, You must be pretty damn good to play their tunes.

Baby please don’t go, by Them

It is a simple song with a few different fun hooks. Working out an arrangement for a solo guitar.

I have a few other songs I dug back out and I’m going back and cleaning up the sloppy parts.
