Cutting down to three is a hateful exercise. Like picking your favourite grandchildren. If I could only take three to the desert island it would be:

My 1973 Strat I bought brand new in..uh...1973.

    My 1958 Les Paul

My beautiful green Anni, the Wild Child.

Do I get three amps too?

Impossible question. I have 7 guitars. I love every one of them.

If I were to choose my Strat and my Les Paul, then I have to choose one more; between my 3 Teles, and 2 Gretsches.

If I choose one Gretsch, then which one? And then I would be without a Tele.

If I choose one of the Teles, which one? And then I am without a Gretsch.

Ok, so let's say I chose my Gretsch Jet, My Les Paul and a Tele. Then I am Strat-less. So lets say I replace the Les Paul with the Strat. Then I have no Les Paul?

And any of the above choices leave me without a hollow body.

So let's go with the G5420T, the Les Paul and a Tele. But which Tele? And now I am Strat-less again, and have to leave my Jet behind.

No matter how I do it, the math does not work.

    I choose not to participate.

I have to say this naming three guitars is not going well. You only have yourself to blame as you did name five.
I'll say Gretsch Tennessee rose, standard American fender Tele although with a non-original neck, and my 12 string Revelation. I actually only have six but it was still hard. I definitely need the other three otherwise I wouldn't have six. I'll be sure to let you all know when I have seven

Evidently I'm stuck in the 70s right now.
The 76 Ric 430 is my current favorite, it just rocks!
The 74 SG is such a good example of the guitar, plays and sounds wonderful.
The 78 Telecaster... well, I need say no more!

    1. Vega C-86 Archtop (Middle) - This guitar will be with me until the day I die for sure. Purchased somewhere in the late 30's to early 40's by my dad's godfather, who left it with my dad. My dad doesn't play, so he gave it to his best friend in the 70's I believe. When I started playing as a teen he pulled it out of storage and passed it to me. I don't play it often any more, I think it needs a bit of restoration before I feel I can put much stress on it.

    2. Fender American Professional Jaguar (Left) - I've always loved Jaguars and Jazzmasters, played this one in a Sam Ash one day and just loved it. Changed the stock black guard to tort, and now have a Mastery bridge, but otherwise it's stock, and perfect for me. This is the only guitar

    3. Univox Badazz (Right) - I bought this guitar as a project off a guy from Jag-Stang.com, (an old offset Fender forum). It came to me in terrible shape with an awful paintjob, messed up neck, a full sized humbucker smashed into a mini-humbucker route, etc. It ended up sitting in my dad's garage for years, until one day he decided he was going to take on the project and built it into the beast it is today. Humbucker sized P90 in the neck, high output humbucker in the bridge, this is a very unique guitar, that can sound really cool on the right tunes.

Considering I'm waiting on my first Gretsch (5420) to arrive today, that number 3 slot could change pretty quick here.
