Nocturne Rooster, hands down.
I’m a VI player myself.
A lot of nice guitars so far. Surprised by all the Fender and Fender inspired ones. Keep em coming.
Tonight it’s been my 6128 vs 59
Sweet. Does it have the Vintage "V" neck profile?
I would have said more of a D
Since you asked I looked more closely if it is a V it’s a very soft V
Yeah, that’s what Gretsch calls their vintage V. A few other models have it, too. I love that one. Some of their resonators have a harder one.
Thanks for verifying. The Gretsch Vintage "V" is a very soft V indeed. My favorite neck in the line up.
There are times when I look at my Phoenix and tell it to "be carefull" as the new '59 VS Jets have my favorite neck! Lol
Never know, time will tell.
I wonder why the Phoenix didn’t have that neck. The hot rods got it, the new Setzer signature models have it.
I really don't know. Possibly because it's a long scale neck. Hard to say.
It's a very comfortable neck for me. Not quite as chunky feeling as the '04 Falcon that I had, but chunkier than the standard Gretsch neck.
That said, just love the Vintage "V" profile.
What’s your favorite guitar to play at the moment?
No favorites... All of them, at their turn, or randomly... As usual... That is to say : all favorites !
I agree. My problem is trying to decide which one I should play at any given time.
It’s still the blue falcon. I had it almost a year and hated it until I finally put stickers over the fret dots so I could see them better. Now it’s absolutely my favorite
This combo is pretty hard to beat
How about more pics of that guitar....Please
You'll have to excuse the mess in the background. I'm rearranging little home guitar workshop today. And some of those other guitars are works-in-progress (thinking of doing a How It Works/Mythbusters style YouTube thing with a buddy of mine so there's a lot of stuff in transition right now).
On to the Rooster...
This one is prototype #2 so it's not *exactly* what you'd get if you ordered one now, but it's close (there's another thread around here about that). This one has the Roostertron pickups, which are Ray Butts coils with TV Classic baseplates in DeArmond mounts.
I added the Bigsby. I might switch back to the regular tailpiece because of just how resonant this thing is. It's louder than it looks, and lighter. I kinda figured it would cut into the usual Jet territory but it's covering Tele and 6120 ground too. The neck shape is one of my new favorites.
In fact, I like it so much that just the day I put in an order for a second one with T90s and a B3 in black ink/cherry burst.
My 6118 Twins,....
My Midnight Special. She’s the lightest of all my guitars, it’s easy to drag her around the house.
