    Greetings all,

I’m looking for advise on restoring this VOX (Thomas Organ) Wah pedal. I acquired it a couple of months back and I’m just now getting time to work with it. My intention is to use this pedal, I’m not really interested in selling it or just displaying it. My main question is, should I try and repaint this pedal, or just leave it alone? The bottom cover is missing, so I will have to fabricate that, I also don’t know the serial number, so it’s a little hard to date. I can look at the components in the circuit and get a general idea, but I’d be interested in hearing everyone’s thoughts. Thanks in advance!!!

You basically answered your own question. If it doesn’t bother you leave it alone, if it bothers you enough, paint it!

TDK inductor is typical for a Californian made 846, but no guarantee. Look at the pot code.
    Back plate replacements are available.

Leave it as is---that's an honest relic. It's earned its scars.

How do you lose a bottom plate?

dont mess w that baby unless you have to replace the pot.. and if you do, keep the original when and if you need to sell. Do not repaint that! There are plenty of remakes but there are NOT originals left in this world that are so lovely as this. Its survived this harsh world thus far and deserves to soldier forward, scars and all. :)

If you know where this came from then go check other Wahs out from the selection to see if the original owner took the plate off to use on another one maybe? The original might be there. I wouldn't mod vintage gear unless you know for certain the mod is one the vintage community wants for gear like that which they will pay for.
