What model immediately preceded the Anniversary? I'm asking about one with a 16" lower bout. The Streamliner had a 17" lower bout if I'm not mistaken, so it wouldn't have been that one.

The Streamliner models (6190, 6191, and 6189) all had the 16" wide body (actually it was closer to 15.75"). Those models preceded the intro of the Anniversary models in 1958, as the Gretsch mid-level electrified CUTAWAY archtops. The Annie was so successful that they ceased Streamliner production very soon after the Annie released. Other single pu archtops like the Corvette were non-cutaway.

Oh wait... the Clipper got the cutaway around '57ish... so maybe it was that? Back then they came with a single Dearmond and deeper hollow body.
