I bought a set of filtertrons for my G5420T, then I bought the adapter plates from luthier mercantile.

The only problem is - one pickup has tabs that extend out from the bottom plate, just flat brass.

The other pair does not so the mounting plate works fine.

    What do I do?

You gotta grind them off, or just notch them enough to clear the screws and routing shape. Hope that helps ya!

Is the one with the tabs on there for a specific position?

For that matter, which one is which? They are not marked bridge and neck.

The one with the extended tabs is the neck pickup. Like @BorderRadio said either gring them off orr notch them so the screw with pass. When I did mine I bought a pair of Tin snips off evilbay (they can be found dirt cheap) and carfefully trimmed the tabs off (took about 2 mins)

Your guitar looks great! Did you keep the electromatic rings, and hide the 2 hole sides under the pickguard, or did you replace them with TV jones style rings?

I actually bought a job lot of Filter'Tron rings and drilled the holes myself though I have used TV Jones rings in the past.

As John did, I used a large pair of tin snips, which sliced right through the tabs, no problem... trimmed them off flush with the cover.

Then attached the adaptor plates and easy mount to Gibson humbucker trim rings.
