I'm thinking it would be more useful with pickups and strings etc.

No dust and glue! Drill and dowell, then redrill. It needs to be right the first time and will take a drillpress so if you have any doubts, take it to a pro.

What would the max price be for a luthier to fix and flip it? If it was restored to good or excellent condition.

I don't think it would be cost effective to restore this, clean originals, which this could never be, go for low 2000.00s. Its desirability is to a home modder like me that would make a sort of rat bike outta it.

My thoughts exactly I tried to figure in my head and it wouldn’t b worth to me who’d fix and sell it , but some one want a nice home project and possible hot rodded guitar would have a blast

Denmark St! Spent a lot of time idling in that area in the late 80's.
Used the Tin Pan Alley recording studio and slept on it's floor for 3 days!
There were some great guitars and guitar shops back then. Good deals to be made.

Wow, that's alot of Time and patience involved in that repair. That Neck is really bad.
Good Luck to anyone that buys it.

    Apologies for the hijack....

I have two old Gretsches that need luthier attention and I have no idea who to take them to in London.

One is an Anniversary not unlike the one under discussion that needs its third a neck set since I've had it!

The other is a 56 Streamliner that was restored to that era's 6120 specs by a constantly touted luthier in America. It didn't last 6 months before the top started to separate from the body, having the same effect as if the neck bowed. I sent it back and the fix did nothing to change this. It sits in a case languishing, which is too bad as it truly has a great sound.

I don't know of anyone in London who deals with old Gretsches and knows their ins and outs. Any recs? The closest I've seen is someone name Joseph Kaye in the East End.

Looks like the 2nd bidder backed out... or got kicked by eBay for something.
