I love the Starwood, it was the only thing that matched the output and bass response to my Dynasonic neck pickup. The Starwood is actually mounted in a B16. Looking at the chopped idea, I see that it's completely doable, only an additional screw hole and counterbore needed at the front end to mount it. Chop-->file to shape-->sand-->polish..

I guess you'd have to ask TV Jones how they would pair - but since the Starwood is a Dynasonic-voiced Tele pickup, how about using a Dynasonic or a T-Armond? Those sound like very ballsy Tele pickups, anyway...

yes but I will need to buy extra vibrato (b16) only to chop it :)

So, looks like I have 3 options:
    1. put it almost on the topof the pup pocket like on reverend ( englishman provided photo earlier)
    2. find used b16 or chinese copy and chop it ( use the pup housing and sell vibrato part, does chinese copy exist?)
    3. t-armond on bridge. ( I guess english mount?)

    I‘m sure you won‘t find a B16 copy...

You don‘t want a tension bar bigsby. I‘m sure!

Tension bar bigsbys aren‘t smooth and they‘re causing a lot of tuning issues.

yea but tuning is not a problem of tension bar. it depends on many factors including bridge. I have B5 guitar that works great and other B5 that has tunning issues :)

Just a heads up, T-Armond are more mid-heavy than the average Tele bridge pickup. The Starwood is really a Tele pickup at heart, steel plate and proper slant--it's sharper sounding IMHO, but a T-A is a great idea too.

I'm with Stefan on this, the non-tension bar is slightly better because it's one less moving part to muck up string movement. If I had a TK, I'd stay true to it's intended design, but that's just me.

You could make/buy a plate like this too, mount that on a wooden riser if you need the extra height. I like this much better than a plastic ring.

I would be more inclined to go with a @townerusa tensioner, it's less ugly and you can fine-tune your tension.
I did this with the Vette build I did last year and it works great.

yes, I was thinking right now about that. If I already have ordered TKSmith why making b5 out of it. wooden riser sounds cool. I have to decide soon cause my luthier is already working on the body.
