That is not fair. That's Tommy E. Can't compare myself to him. He is great, I am just so so.
I plan to visit the Songbirds Museum in Chattanooga someday. Great guitar, TE! I don't even bother worrying about comparing myself to any accomplished player. I'll never achieve it, so why bother?
Comparing yourself to others will only make you vain, or bitter. Life's too short for that.
I have no questions. I have the answer: my playing is clearly inferior.
I only compare myself to my younger self. If I listen closely, I may have improved a little!
He's a bad man. I've contemplated burning my guitars or simply throw them out the window, and that's just from watching him on Youtube.
Exactly. I'm sure you're a much better doctor than him, and I'm guessing I'm a better lawyer. We all have our strengths.
Tommy... his playing always warms my heart... especially when he plays his own compositions on his Maton - that's the sweet meat, indeed.
Me too. He can twang a Tele no doubt, but it’s the acoustic thing that he’s all about. Nobody can touch him in that arena imo.
I acknowledge him as a true master. But that will not stop me from working on my skills. There was a point in his life (maybe when ha was 11 yeaars old) in which he was on the same level as I am today. So I give myself a chance...
No question about it , Tommy Emanuel is a lot better than I'll ever be . Thanks for sharing @Crooner
It isn’t that Tommy Emmanuel is better than me that bothers me. Is that you can troll any crowded bar and probably find four nobody’s.
A true Master. We are not worthy. But we don't play to compete, we play to enjoy. That thought is the only one that keeps me from stuffing it all.
I compare myself to Tommy E all the time.
Just not favorably.
Whatever you do, give it your all! May we all be a TE at something! Even if it’s not guitar.
I'm pretty sure he has, like, seven fingers on his left hand.

I would like to learn how to finger pick with my free fingers when holding a flat pick with the thumb and index. I usually fingerstyle with all fingers and opposable thumb without a pick. I should try it sometime, this is inspiring, not discouraging.
Now you know how he must feel when he watches Leo Kotke play guitar...
My playing is more inferior than your playing! So there!
