Very well said, and totally true.
I agree. I do still visit other forums of various types, but this one is just head and shoulders above the rest in a lot of different ways for sure.
Without a doubt.
No doubt about it.
That's a good point. It seems that all forums have that core group that really hang around often and participate and remain cordial. I guess it's when you have those that aren't as active but still participate and on occasion you begin to see the difference. Here, everyone regardless of how many post they have, is so kind, helpful, and respectful.
Same here. I consider myself lucky to be involved with such great people.
Me too. It's so great to meet people from different walks of life (and different countries), but also have nearly the exact same interests.
No doubt. A lot of great tips are always shared. Very, very helpful.
Well, I appreciate all that you do for the forum. Thanks a bunch.
Very true. Any negativity is constructive it seems.
I know. It's great seeing all the gear and new stuff people obtain and how happy it makes them.
I think you are right. Being a moderator is usually a hassle, but the hassles are rare here, and I think that’s because acting poorly is not accepted by the membership at large.
This is a terrific forum. No doubt about it.
Haven't been here long, But I feel this forum encourages respect to others, and is a great resource for everything Guitar, Music, and Gretsch related.
I personally have received a lot of help in a short amount of time here. The sharing of information and thoughts is invaluable.
Gosh, There's not much I can add. Amazing, wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, insightful, kind, concerned, accepting, humble, fun folks.
Not to mention having the best moderator. Hats off to a remarkable job. G-T is a one of a kind place. The only one I belong to. Ps. I'm always tardy.
This forum rocks big time. Great bunch of cats in here for sure.
Better late than never.
Charlie, speaking of being late to the party, I realized that I have spent time reading the responses, but never took the time to add my own thoughts.
I'm not a huge online presence, although I like learning new things. In this forum, I have discovered a group of people that love to play music (me, too), love their Gretsch guitars (me, too), and enjoy getting to know each other - more than just a few have had the privilege of meeting each other in person. I can't tell you whether the civility here is a product of the kind of people drawn to Gretsch guitars, or not. What I can say is that Gretsch-Talk is an oasis of civility that makes it a pleasure to be here. The nice part is that it is not just in my backyard, but it's people from all around the world.
Good moderation is always helpful (kudos to Synchro), but Synchro rarely has to be tough in his moderation. The best part of this forum is that it is populated by people that care about others. We make not look alike, of think alike on all topics, but we respect one another. At this point in this ol' world, respect for one another is not what's in the forefront. Gretsch-Talk reminds me that respect for one another is not in danger of dying out. It is alive and well.
Well said LMD. This is a delightful oasis in a desert of on-line discontent! I used to spend a lot of time on digital photography fora and the whining and nay-saying became intolerable. Maybe the people who frequent here have arrived because of a type of convergent evolution?
