Really enjoyed this film. It was pretty dark at times, absurd, full of cliches but really I thought it was a masterpiece. It's a series of six short films wrapped into one. They don't necessarily end nicely and they have a few twists and turns in them that keep you on your toes. In particular the first short film about the singing 'misanthrope' Buster Scruggs was really great with some great music too. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but I thought it was well worth watching - I loved it!
I clicked on that the other night while skimming netflix. Pleasantly surprised at how well done it was. I'll admit I thought I was in for some pretty hokey stuff the first minute then realized it was all tongue in cheek. And yes it's pretty dark at times.
Ha thanks that's really nice of you - I have a guest spot at a gig coming up so I've sort of dropped learning new stuff until I conquer getting up and playing in front of people - but at least I'm going to make an effort to get out of the house for a change.
I’m not a big fan of Netflix pesonally. I have it becauae it’s there that one can watch all the different Star Trek series. Their original content is most times a waste of time. BUT I’m a lifelong Coen Brothers fan. I cannot wait to finally watch this one. I haven’t heard any bum reviews yet!
Yes a lot of their content leaves me cold but there have been a few things they've done that I thought was ok. Like Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency and Stranger Things wasn't too bad for light entertainment. There's been other stuff too that was fun like the new Lost in Space, all the Star Trek's as you say, Still Game (Scottish comedy), some of the documentaries. Best thing is no ads. Let us know what you think of Buster Scruggs when you watch it!
I’ve heard good things about The Haunting of Hill House, but i doubt anything can beat the original movie.
Great Film, im about half way thru and so far its GREAT. Got a huge smile on my face when I unexpectedly saw Tom Waits face
Ol' Buster's got a few more episodes in him before gets to being turned into a horny toad at the river.
My wife came home and said we should check it out,k and that I would like it because i liked other stuff they made. After the singing cowboy part, she walked away. I liked it. Different, and kept you guessing as to what would happen.
Yep, a certain segment with a personal favorite musician (name with held to not spoil the fun), was worth the wait. Made my Saturday night.
If you like the Coen Brother's stuff to begin with (like me) you're gonna love this. Maybe their best since "Oh Brother". But man, is it dark! I'm still mulling it over a whole week after seeing it. I also couldn't help myself - what exactly was Buster strumming? I think it said Recording King, but it might have been a fake logo saying something else - they never really did give you a clear shot of the headstock!
I'm pretty sure I seen Recording King on the headstock as well. Edit: Found this. Recording King RPS-7-MBK Parlor model
