Dyno, Billy, or Atomic. Which one and why?

Atomic. It is a fantastic preamp with a boost for that extra ‘stuff’.

I haven’t tried a Billy. But unless it’s a great deal on a Dyno, I’d go Atomic. Reason, Normal switch is a Dyno, and Abby mode is the Dyno on steroids for a little more. Two options in a box instead of one for only $30 more. I tend not to switch mid song. But I’ll leave either Normal or Abby on depending on what it calls for. That’s based on either song, style, or which guitar is in hand.

    An atomic brain!
Or skip ahead and get yourself a Mystery Brain, cuz you’ll end up getting one eventually anyway!! ;)

I’m glad I got the Detroit Casket just the low to medium gain I was looking for but a week later I bought the Mystery Brain and it would have been a great first pedal to get
Due to having a superb delay
I thought I had a great delay in the TC Slapback delay now only use it for a couple of it’s other modes the MB even does respectable Tremelo
I could easily only use my tuner and the Detroit Casket into the Mystery Brain

I almost suggested a Mystery Brain. But it wasn’t on the list and is a big investment on faith with never having tried a Brain. That being said, it may just be delaying the inevitable if he buys a non MB. The echo is supreme in person.

Atomic Brain is the traditional entry-level addiction for Nocturne pedals.

The BB shines with master volume amps.

True that. I forgot that’s what it’s advertised for. And I forget what @pmac11 is running for an amp.

@pmac11, it slipped my mind that you already have a JR Barnyard too. So you’ve already started down the Nocturne slippery slope. If you end up going Atomic, I believe the current one is orange so it might blend in too well with your current Xotic BB that I saw on your pedal board. Unless you go the larger pedal version in Led Sled finish for an extra $33. (Strangely enough it shows up if you click on the “All Products” tab under products and not the “pedals” tab on the Nocturne site).

Assuming you’re not leaving us in suspense until your NPD... what’s it going to be?

My old Billy Brain serves me well on crunch-sounds.
I assume that the other Brains are better suited for the more clean stuff.

My Dyno is on all the time. The Atomic would be a nice option.

I have an old Billy brain(nope, well yes, but I mean in the slanted housing). What does the two knob BB offer over the old single knobber?

I’d go simple...get a Dyno. I’ve had atomics, dynos, & mysteries but my first gateway to Nocturne was an early Dyno’d Brain Seltzer (the OG Nocturne pedal)

Mystery because for ~ 50% more $ you get 100% more awesome.

I'd say of the 3 listed, Atomic or Billy based on whether you run a non MV or MV amp.
