    it's been at the shop for a couple months and is coming guitar chap is in demand and I made the mistake of telling him to take his time.....doh!

    I wouldn't waste a penny on fixing the mute apparatus, unless you're the first person I've ever met that intends to use it. I'd have it removed and save yourself a few ounces on the overall weight of the guitar. Even with repaired binding, this guitar will only ever be a player, so make it a great one! You could plug the remaining hole by the bridge with something cool like a decorative stud. Enjoy your vintage Gent!

    I'm with you on that...I wouldn't know how to use it anyway , my palm is my maybe if I could find a tiny little hand attachment that could come out of the hole and flash a rock and roll gesture or something ...that would be worth the weight
