Just watched this vid.......love seeing this guy play.
Ah, I get it. It's easy - I'm trying too hard.
Amazing - thanks for sharing.
Ah well, maybe in the next life...
Thanks for posting. It was a joy listening to him play. Really great to see such young talent.
Thanks for posting, superb player, I had no clue who he was.
Pshaw. I could do that. If I had started about 60 years ago. Maybe.
Superb playing and a real nice guy, very interesting!
Here’s he with some Gretsch playin‘:
Yep, we (a bunch of us from the other Gretsch forum) first saw him doing a demo in the Gretsch booth at NAMM a few years ago. We looked at one another afterward and wondered why we bother. Does he have to be young and good-looking, too? And I think he can sing, too. Sheesh. Luckily, he's a very nice guy.
I get how sometimes watching super good players can get discouraging for some. Maybe it’s just my outlook of having accepted both my playing ability and disabilities as they are. It does the opposite for me and reminds me of how great music can be, inspiring me to play on. Even though I know the high probability my playing will never match it as half my life is likely spent serving a different purpose in life. Honestly, Tony and a lot of you are better players than I may be for some time, or perhaps may ever achieve. Let the great ability and musical creativity of others fuel your life and feed your soul.
I say enjoy the blessing of still being above ground and play on. Life’s over before we all know it. And that’s the truth.
I will be 73 the fifth of next month and I just can't accept that I will not get better. I am going to keep picking till they plant me 6 ft under. Hoping the good Lord will let me bring my gretsch thru the pearly gate and let me keep trying.
Slight detour off topic but for OP @TSims1 ... what’ve you been busy working on as of late? Mostly producing still or working/playing your own stuff?
I’m producing full-time now. It’s been fantastic. I still find time to do things for myself as well, though less right now than maybe ever........but the truth is I’m a creative and it’s new challenges that thrill me most. I have always believed a true artist is constantly and perpetually reinventing himself. Doing something ONCE is art. Doing it twice is replication.
I WILL put out a new album though. Maybe in 2020. I’ll call it “Hindsight”.
It is all because of that Tele.....and perhaps a bit of talent
That’s awesome. I’m sure I’m not the only one glad for you.
Looking forward to hearing the new stuff when the stars align next year.
Me too! I don’t believe(for the record)that my personal gifting comes from me. It is divinely inspired and given....so I am as excited as you to see what happens! I never have any idea what is actually gonna happen until it happens. Lol.
He's got a nice voice too and I like his songs. Cool times, there are a lot of great young guitarists out there. Isn't it breathtaking how virtuoso they are?
Thanks for the videos! Joe is an amazing player.
Great to hear that you're doing what you love, Tony. I'm forever a fan!
