The guitar had been converted to a 12 string in the 70s presumably. So there were a lot of odd parts. Guild 12 string talipiece. White guard. Check out the headstock. The bridge was totally glued down, etc etc. 6119 1.jpg IMG_1586.JPG

IMG_1581.JPG Bridge glued down. So I just restored it with parts I liked (like 50s Bigsby) or that I had lying aroynd, such as the tunomatic bridge.

I think the single pick up 6119 is one of Gretsch's greatest models. Very nice instrument.

Do you give them any special treatment to keep humidity and everything for your beautiful guitars? I keep mine in her case but i'm so sad just to not see it on the stand.

Everybody handles this differently, but since you asked me... here's my routine. In the warmer months my house is air-conditioned with a de-humidifer, so the environment is very stable and consistent. During this period I enjoy my vintage guitars, with little concern. I rotate them through my guitar rack, giving all a few weeks/months outside their cases.

In the winter things dry out beyond what my house air can keep up with, so that's when I bring out my several modern era guitars for exposure on the rack, and playing time, relegating the vintage team to their cases and a large closet that I keep track of the humidity in. It ain't perfect but it's my system.

How did I miss this thread???

OK-- my 1942 Synchromatic 100-- they say blondes have more fun... this one has obviously seen its share of good times, but there's still lots more playing time left in this 100% hand-carved beauty.;)

Did I mention that she's also a "loudmouth?" Projects way better than my flat-top acoustics-- which was a bit of a surprise.
