Does anyone have any experience with Seismic Audio cabinets? Their unloaded open back 212 is a very good price, I'm just wondering if it falls into the 'too good to be true' category.

Nice looking cabinet Pete. The price is good too. Two points though.

    1. The cabinet is in Tennessee. You will pay exchange of the dollar (30%) plus shipping ($50-100) plus duty at the border ($40?)

    2. You could buy the cabinet from Derrick Bell in Trenton and he will usually deliver it to your door. His price is about the same. I have a dozen (or more) of his cabs and they are beautifully made - white pine - quality parts.

If you would like Derrick's contact info I will be pleased to share it.

    Hi Tony

Thanks for all this. Amazon has them for about $350 plus tax, free shipping. I'm also considering building one. My father-in-law has a great woodshop in his garage; he and I whipped up a 1x12 cab (unfinished) in less than a weekend a while back. Finished it with blue paint from Lowes, since the cab is just for home use. This time around I'd like a proper tolex finish, but I just don't know if I have the time, space, or skill set to tolex a 2x12 cabinet.

I'd be glad to look at Derrick Bell's info. Thanks again!

True. It's unloaded. 1/2 inch birch ply, 35 pounds.

35 pounds, unloaded? That’s going to be a beast, weight wise, with anything other than neodymium speakers

WGS G12C/S and an Eminence Texas Heat. At least that's what I have in the house at the moment. I'm hearing nice things about the Celestion V-Type. And the Jensen Jet EL. Stay tuned... :)

Bingo. Haven't bought it yet though. A kindly GT member turned me on to a local builder who makes custom pine cabs, tolexed and speaker ready for the same price. Would rather support local talent than Jeff Bezos, so that's the route I'll be taking.

How much is the cab only.
    I had my 2x12 cab custom made including V30 speakers for $Can/Aust 300 :)

Even two used V30s would cost $300 here...

Anyway, the cab only is about $300 cdn. I like this one. 49575703_275490999798675_2295367807317049344_o.jpeg

Another ancient thread I'm resurfacing (hey, I'm new)...

I have one heckuva home wood shop, including a CNC router, and should start building cabinets. From a woodworking perspective there's nothing to them. Box with holes, add corner protection, handles and Tolex.
