saw Dweezil tat Tips last night uptown in Nola. If you are but familiar with it it’s basically a bar with a stage and a dance floor. It’s a small venue but also an institution in Nola and probably one of the best venues to see bands. I saw Reverend Horton Heath there a few years ago. We stood up front and I got lots of pictures and some good video.
I’ve seen Dweezil four time and this show was by far the best. Every time I saw him it seemed like they were just copying his fathers music, this show they were playing it. It was three straight hours of Zappa heavy hitters from his catalogue of over 1200 songs. All favorites and some very complicated pieces.
Here are some of the pictures, you can look me up on Facebook to see it all.
    Video will come later

Dweezil was a big fan of 80’s guitar and is friends with Eddie van Galen and Steve via. Eddie produced Dweezil’s first record and taught him a lot about playing guitar. Dweezil can really play. I took a workshop with him a few years ago. Amazing musician

Very cool! Dweezil was a very interesting guest on the GuitarWank podcast. Sad that he's had a legal battle with family over use of the name Zappa. Imagine that. It's your name, but family don't want you to use it on your recordings or at your concerts.

At least he's not using those weird Peavey Wiggy amps.

No. Hybrid amps, and weird appointments. Automotive styled/named controls. The big speaker cab looked like it could be a 4X12, but only held a pair. Too quirky and gimmicky.

There was one on stage because at one time there was a contest to win one. The winner lives in Nola and cane on stage to play pound for a brown with the band using the amp. You can see it in this picture

Perfect for a freebie. The winner got his money's worth.
