Here is another player I never knew much about but have always admired from afar . It's kinda of funny now I'm going back to the undiscovered music of my early youth to find inspiration. Any suggested albums to buy or check out?

Here is a great cover of " Vigilante Man" .

Underrated, almost a background guy. But a giant in my world.

You can find many good records with Ry Cooder.
I like his early Records but i like him even better in these days.
I think he has a better expression and more intersiting voice now.
The fact is that I am currently work on a playlist with Ry Cooder Songs, both from his own Records and works with other musicians.
When the list is finished i can share it her.

    Two Records that i like:

First live in SAN Francisco, then Election Special

I saw him together with David Lindley on a concert in Hambug in the nineties.
    Impressive artist. Wonderful music.
BTW: This was the only open air concert in my life where smoking cigarettes was not allowed.

"Bop Till You Drop" is a great album. Also, check out his work with John Hiatt in Little Village. Buena Vista Social Club is another.

+1 for wabash slim's recommendation. Bop Till You Drop is very very good indeed.

+2 on the Bop. My personal favourite, though I pretty much love every note I’ve heard him play.

Have a look at Ry Cooder live at the Catalyst, Santa Cruz 1987 on youtube. I downloaded the entire concert, but that seems to have been pulled, though the individual numbers are there. A master guitar player with a masterful band. Every number is a gem.

I bought a goldfoil PU because of him, noone else.
The fact he hardly uses one even though he has one on his guitars is irrelevant. :)

I have listened to Ry for 40 plus years. Started with “Into the Purple Valley" when that was released. My fav is likely “Jazz” or his live “Showtime”. I am also a fan of his duets with VM Bhatt “Meeting by the River, "Talking Timbuktu" with Ali Farke Toure (saw them play together live) and often go back to the Cuban album he did with Manuel Galban.
