One of the greatest inspirations to my dance career as a little kid :) , as my father would play ventures for us on the stereo console every friday night on sabbath (I raised in a weird religion that think they are jewish) as there were no "Secular" lyrics. He was always working the loopholes like Duane Eddy, Chet Atkins, etc. Later in junior high school The Ventures would be come very important to my guitar playing.
I finally had the honor of seeing the Ventures perform at the Brian Setzer Christmas show. One of the greatest gifts Brian Setzer has given to us. My sons got to witness the living legends and just last week my youngest was in his room practicing his drums to "Walk Dont Run". RIP Nokie

The Ventures were/are huge world wide (especially in Japan). I have have one of their 2 CD greatest hit compilations and have enjoyed their music over the years. RIP Nokie.

BTW, the Ventures were one of the first bands to use fuzz (!)

    RIP, Nokie.

The Ventures and surf/instrumental music was burned in, by way of the family. Learned my first song "Walk Don't Run" on their 33 1/3 LP visual sound STEREO...

My heart just sank from reading this post. Yes indeed, he was one of the greatest and will be sorely missed. He was my inspiration for learning to play guitar. RIP Nokie, you did good and the music you made will continue to serve as a testament for all of us.
