Happy Birthday Randy! He would have been 61 today. One of my early guitar hero's.

Tragic accident. I loved the stories that he'd seek out guitar instructors in each city he traveled to for a lesson, usually classical guitarists.

I saw Randy on the Blizzard of Ozz tour in the 80's.

It seems to me that if you're a great guitarist you should never get on anything that flies!!

RIP to one of the greatest to strap on a guitar!!

I saw him with Ozzy too, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion. It was a very good show. Lots of fun. This was before the horror movie gimmicks, e.g., something bad is going to happen to the dwarf (he hangs). I still enjoy those first two albums with Randy Rhodes.

I love Randy’s playing. I know I’m a blues guy but I’ll never forget blizzard of Oz when it came out. We were all floored by it

I learned to play Dee in classical guitar class in High School, that was back in the early 80's. Beautiful song.

I still remember how to play those chords at the start of diary of a madman....I never seemed to bother learning the rest....it was about the same time I painted Randy on a mates leather jacket in oil paint for beer money so maybe that answers that...I wonder what he'd be playing now?

One of the all time great drummers flailing away back there too. That was one heck of a band.

I always thought the "Blizzard" band would have made for a great docudrama. All the stories that came out from that era. I didn't realize until the mid 80's that Bob and Lee also played on Diary, not Rudy and Tommy as most kids thought back in the day.

Yeah there was a lot of drama around that if I recall, didn’t Sharon remix the album with Tommy and Rudy for some unknown reason?

From what I read he was not only a great virtuoso but a nice person to have around. RIP
